Amazon Prime is set to release another original TV series called The Sticky and the title is more than fitting. The show will be produced by Blumhouse Television, Canada’s Sphere Media, Megamix, and Jamie Lee Curtis’ Comet Pictures. The Sticky will take place in Canada and tells the story of the biggest maple syrup heist in history.
Though the show may not be a sticky situation for Jamie Lee Curtis, it will certainly depict one of the most bizarre and sticky multi-million dollar heists of all time. The “Great Canadian Maple Syrup Heist” took place in 2011 and resulted in over $18 million dollars (CAD) worth of maple syrup being stolen from the maple syrup reserves in Quebec. Adjusted for inflation, this would be the most valuable heist in Canadian history. The series will tell the story of Ruth Clarke, a maple syrup farmer who decides to take matters into her own hands when the fate of her farm is threatened by bureaucracy. She teams up with another local and a mobster to commit history’s biggest syrup theft.
While the extent of Jamie Lee Curtis’s involvement is yet to be announced, it does seem like this is going to be a wacky tale that is sure to intrigue audiences based on the premise alone. The newly announced project has no release date yet, but more details are sure to come out as production gets underway. Meanwhile, Jamie Lee Curtis is making waves in the acting world when she’s not too busy producing. Her most recent film is the Michelle Yeoh-led Everything Everywhere All at Once. The movie tells the story of a woman who has to save the world by connecting with the multiversal version of herself. The movie has been getting fantastic reviews, with the Rotten Tomatoes scores being overwhelmingly positive. In addition to Michelle Yeoh and Jamie Lee Curtis, the movie also stars Stephanie Hsu, Ke Huy Quan, James Hong, and more.
Jamie Lee Curtis is also set to return to the franchise that rocketed her into super-stardom with Halloween Ends. She’ll be returning as Laurie Strode and will face off against the menace Michael Myers one last time. The presumably final addition to the universe that started in the John Carpenter classic is set to hit theaters before the end of the year. Fittingly, the release date is set for October 14, which means you’ll be able to catch it just in time for Halloween.
Finally, Jamie Lee Curtis has one more highly anticipated role in a movie that is set to hit theaters before the end of the year. She’ll be playing Tannis in the film adaptation of the popular Borderlands franchise of video games. Borderlands is set on the planet of Pandora which is filled with treasure hunters and bandits on the hunt for a mysterious relic. The film is directed by Eli Roth and will also star Cate Blanchett, Janina Gavankar, Haley Bennett, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and more.
In short, there are a lot of Jamie Lee Curtis projects to look forward to in the near future. These movies should definitely keep fans happy until The Sticky hits the Amazon Prime streaming platform.
