Jamie Foxx Is A Troubled Cop In Thriller Now Streaming For Free
Sleepless, a cop thriller starring Jamie Foxx, is streaming on Pluto.
Jamie Foxx has been in a lot of popular movies, but Sleepless is not one of them. This film flew completely under the radar when it was released, but now you can check it out for free if you undoubtedly missed it back in 2017. The film is available for you to stream now on Pluto.
Sleepless is an action thriller that is actually a remake of a 2011 French film. It is directed by Baran bo Odar and written by Andrea Berloff. Along with Jamie Foxx, it stars Michelle Monaghan, Dermot Mulroney, David Harbour, Tip “T.I.” Harris, Gabrielle Union, and Scoot McNairy.
With a solid cast led by Jamie Foxx, you would think that Sleepless would have at least been semi-popular, but it was a flop. The film follows Foxx’s troubled police officer Vincent Downs, who must face off against mobsters to save his son. Unfortunately, the film received terrible reviews and grossed $33 million against a budget of $30 million.
So, is Sleepless a movie that would be well worth your time checking out? It’s hard to give it a full-hearted recommendation, but if you’re desperate for an action-thriller starring Jamie Foxx, it’s at least free to watch. Just don’t expect it to be the best film you’ve ever seen by any measure.
If you’re looking for a more recent Jamie Foxx project to check out, his newest movie is currently in select theaters, and there’s a good chance it’ll be better than Sleepless. The new movie is called God is a Bullet and is directed by Nick Cassavetes. Based on the 1999 novel by Boston Teran, God is a Bullet follows a detective who infiltrates a satanic cult to exact revenge on its leader for killing his ex-wife and kidnapping his daughter.
God is a Bullet stars Maika Monroe and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, with Jamie Foxx playing a smaller role as the Ferryman. This film is the first project we’ve seen from Foxx since he had his medical scare a couple of months back. Foxx was hospitalized in April, but he has since made a recovery.
The next film we should see from Jamie Foxx is They Cloned Tyrone, which is set to hit Netflix on July 21. The film sees an unlikely trio uncovering an eerie government conspiracy. They Cloned Tyrone is directed by Juel Taylor and also stars Teyonah Parris, John Boyega, David Alan Grier, and Kiefer Sutherland.
Following They Cloned Tyrone, we’ll hear Jamie Foxx voicing a dog in the upcoming film Strays, which is due for an August 18 release. Foxx and Will Ferrell play two dogs that band together with other strays to get revenge on one of their former owners. The R-rated comedy will also star Sofia Vergara, Isla Fisher, Josh Gad, Will Forte, Randall Park, Harvey Guillen, Jamie Demetriou, and Rob Riggle.
Perhaps one of Jamie Foxx’s most anticipated upcoming films is Back in Action, which is an upcoming action comedy that is being released on Netflix. The film co-stars Cameron Diaz, who is making her long-awaited return to acting after taking an extended hiatus. While Netflix hasn’t announced an official release date for the film, there’s hope that we might see it this year or at least early in 2024.
Another highly anticipated project from Jamie Foxx that is up in the air right now is the Mike Tyson biopic that has been in the works since 2015. The biopic is set to follow Foxx as Tyson through his younger days up to the present day and uses prosthetics and CGI to make Foxx look more like Tyson. Foxx also has said he has been training hard for the project, which will reportedly be a limited series with Training Day director Antoine Fuqua directing the series from a script written by Colin Preston.
The latest update from that project was Mike Tyson himself saying it was a “strong possibility” that it was going to happen, so we’ll have to wait and see how this particular project ends up panning out. Jamie Foxx could still be recuperating a bit from his health scare, so it might not be time to get back to training for an intense role like playing Mike Tyson. We’ll keep you updated on that project, and you can check out Sleepless on Pluto for free in the meantime.
