See Jake Gyllenhaal Replace Patrick Swayze In Ripped Road House First Look
The full first trailer for Road House has now been released. Here it is…
Here’s the previous snippet which Amazon made available.
Amazon Prime’s new Road House remake stars Jake Gyllenhaal looking more ripped than ever in what was Patrick Swayze’s role in the 1989 version of the film. Tagged as a “reimagining” of the original, the 2024 Road House movie will be released directly to streaming on March 21st of next year.
Reportedly, Jake Gyllenhaal and the film’s director were unhappy with the release plans for the movie. Both men felt as though Road House could do well for itself with a theatrical release after positive prescreening feedback.
In the movie, Jake Gyllenhaal plays Elwood Dalton, a former UFC fighter who takes a job as the bouncer of a roadhouse. Set in Florida instead of Missouri, Amazon’s newest 2024 sizzle reel of upcoming shows and movies showed viewers a whole other side of Jake Gyllenhaal.
First, being shown only a few seconds into the reel, you’ll get a quick glimpse of Jake Gyllenhaal’s stellar new physique. You might even go so far as to say that Gyllenhaal is more ripped than Patrick Swayze in the original Roadhouse.
Around a minute and a half into the reel, you get more footage of the upcoming Road House movie when you see Jake comically dominating a fight against several men in a parking lot.
After hitting one of the men, he stops for a moment to exclaim, “Oh, I just slapped you, are you alright?” right before proceeding to beat the crap out of all of them. Sounds about right for a Road House movie, right?
Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity and Mr & Mrs Smith) directs the new film, and you’ll see Daniela Melchior (The Suicide Squad), Billy Magnussen (Game Night), and UFC star Conor McGregor as Jake Gyllenhaal’s costars in the movie.
Not much is known about the way in which filmmakers have approached the remake. We don’t yet know if the two stories exist in the same universe. Is Elwood a relative of James Dalton, or is he just a different version of the same guy?
Regardless, there’s no replacing the brilliance of actors like Patrick Swayze and Sam Elliot. Jake Gyllenhaal and the rest of the cast will just have to do their best to capture audiences with their own version of Road House to make the movie a success.
As the release of the remake draws closer and marketing campaigns begin, it was nice to see Gyllenhaal pay homage to the late great Swayze with a t-shirt he wore of the star to his 43rd birthday celebration.
The R-rated Road House remake starring Jake Gyllenhaal will be available for streaming on Prime Video on March 21st, 2024. The bad news is you won’t get to see Gyllenhaal’s ripped abs on a huge theater screen, but the good news is that you won’t have to purchase a ticket or drive anywhere to see the movie.
If you’re feeling like brushing up on your Road House trivia before watching the new movie, the original film is now streaming on MAX for those who have a subscription to the channel.
