Invincible Season 2 Delivers More Bad News To Fans
As fans eagerly await the next installment of the animated series Invincible, uncertainty surrounding the release date for Season 2, Episode 5 has left many disappointed.
After the first four episodes of the eight-part season were released in November 2023, the show was rumored to return with the next batch of four on January 4. But the date passed with no new episodes hitting screens.
New Invincible Release Window
The release window for Invincible Season 2 Part 2 was officially announced as “early 2024,” with producer Simon Racioppa adding to the anticipation by suggesting a potential delay of a few weeks or months in November 2023. Buzz about new episodes ramped up on social media when an X user confidently stated that the series would return on January 4.
Realistic Expectations
However, the absence of any official announcement from Amazon Studios to corroborate this claim has left fans in suspense.
Adding to the disappointment, a press release from Amazon Studios for January 2024 failed to mention Invincible Season 2, Episode 5, raising concerns about the possibility of a release in the coming weeks. At present, February is a more realistic expectation.
Meanwhile, speculation about what might unfold in Invincible Season 2, Episode 5 is rife. The last episode, “It’s Been a While,” ended with Nolan Grayson/Omni-Man facing execution. Now, his son Mark is burdened with preparing Earth for a potential Viltrumite invasion. Mark also learns that Nolan’s second wife, Andressa, has a child who is his half-brother.
The Invincible Series
Invincible Season 1 premiered on Amazon Prime Video in March 2021, receiving a prompt renewal for Seasons 2 and 3 even before its conclusion.
Adapted from the Image Comics series by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley, the story focuses on Mark Grayson. Under the guidance of his father, Omni-Man, Mark evolves into the world’s preeminent superhero.
Invincible Themes
However, Mark struggles to balance his regular teenage life with the responsibilities of being a superhero. This internal conflict inspires him to demonstrate his value as a hero, striving to meet the standards set by his father’s illustrious legacy.
While Invincible Season 2 introduces new stories and characters, the overarching theme remains constant.
Cameos Coming?
The series boasts an accomplished voice cast featuring the talents of Steven Yeun, Sandra Oh, and J. K. Simmons, who lend their voices to the characters within the Grayson family.
The possibility of Spider-Man making a cameo in Invincible Season 2 remains. Clues pointing towards a potential crossover were spotted in the trailer, which alluded to Marvel Team-Up #14, a comic where the superheroes team up.
More Hints And Easter Eggs
As Mark Grayson scrolls through his phone in the trailer, viewers catch a glimpse of the crossover comic book cover. While it’s plausible that this is merely an Easter egg from Skybound, Invincible Season 2 fans are convinced that the shot of Mark’s phone genuinely suggests Spider-Man’s appearance in the show.
Adding fuel to the speculation about the Invincible Season 2 Spider-Man crossover is the casting of Josh Keaton in an undisclosed role.
Keaton previously lent his voice to Spider-Man/Peter Parker in various projects, including The Spectacular Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, and Spider-Man: Edge of Time.
