Writer and comedian Katt Williams recently made several controversial statements regarding his pay, casting, and the alleged rape scene in the Friday franchise on the Club Shay Shay podcast. The interview garnered a lot of attention, as the comedian pointed its verbal projectiles at some of the largest names in the entertainment industry. Famous rapper and producer Ice Cube took it upon himself to address several statements made by Williams.

Katt Williams disclosed that the script for Friday After Next contains a scene of sexual assault in which his character, Money Mike, gets raped in the bathroom

Ice Cube posted a nine-minute video on X, formerly known as Twitter, last Friday, in which he addressed several statements made by Katt Williams regarding the filming of Friday After Next.

The rapper began his statement by expressing his love and respect for Katt Williams, declaring his following statement as a clarification on what transpired on and behind the set. This includes denying he would film a rape scene for which Willaims claimed he had pushed to be removed from the movie.

For context, Katt Williams disclosed that the script for Friday After Next contains a scene of sexual assault in which his character, Money Mike, gets raped in the bathroom, presumably by Brooklyn Nine-Nine Terry Crews’s character Damon.

Williams also stated that he had to advocate for the scene’s removal and that the ask was risky, considering that Friday After Next is his very first movie, ultimately relying on all the credibility and all the pull he had in comedy to have the scene removed from the film. Ice Cube called this particular statement a “discrepancy” in how he and Williams remembered things.

The rapper began his statement by expressing his love and respect for Katt Williams, declaring his following statement as a clarification on what transpired on and behind the set.

Ice Cube added that if the rape scene was in the script, there would be no reason not to shoot the said scene. Sure, the producers and powers behind the camera would listen to a certain extent, but they aren’t likely to change the movie for any actor.

He also added that his cinematography and his personal style aren’t about such things. Certain things were in the script, and they are in the movie. He asserted that the alleged rape scene would never be featured in Friday After Next, and no such scene was ever a subject of any discussion.

With that particular discrepancy out of the way, Ice Cube did pay his respects to Katt Williams. He added to Williams’ defending Ice Cube against low pay allegations, calling those critical of how much they were paid “ungrateful bastards.”

Ice Cube added that most of the budget for the movie actually went into the movie itself, stating that there are over 100 people involved in the project who need to get paid. This included actors, as well as pre-production, production, and post-production staff. It’s important to note that Friday After Next was partially funded from Ice Cube’s own pocket.

Ice Cube also expressed his respect to Katt Williams for enhancing the role of Money Mike using his comedic prowess. The rapper and producer stated that Money Mike’s role was about as big as the Santa Claus role, but when the filming started, Williams was given the role such magic that they kept expanding the role of Money Mike to what’s present in the final 2002 product.
