Hulu Hit Murder Mystery Series Gets Season 4
The gang will be back at it for a fourth season of Only Murders in the Building to solve the murder that closed out the season three finale of the show. Fading out on Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch) writing something on the floor in blood, the cliffhanger ending to season 3 is the suspense-filled catalyst for season 4. The gang will return to solve Sazz’s murder, and more delicious investigative high jinks are sure to ensue.
Primed For A Messy Investigation
The center of the investigation moves back to the Arconia in Only Murders In the Building Season 4, with the team investigating the murder of Sazz in Charles’ kitchen. The twist is that because she’s Charles’ stunt double, it’s unclear whether the murderer was really after her or Charles. The next step in the investigation will surely be trying to figure out who would want to kill either of them.
Everything’s Coming Around Full Circle
The three podcasters who came together originally in Only Murders in the Building season 1 to solve a murder that took place in their apartment building, the Arconia, will be back for a fourth season where the show’s co-creator hints that they will come up against the consequences of making art.
Mabel (Selena Gomez), Charles (Steve Martin), and Oliver (Martin Short) will team up to solve the murder of Charles’ longtime stunt double, Sazz. They will be joined by Meryl Streep as Loretta Durkin, Oliver’s romantic interest, Tina Fey as rival podcast host Cinda Canning, and Jane Lynch as Sazz Pataki.
New Additions To The Cast
Season 4 of Only Murders in the Building will also include new cast member Molly Shannon as a high-powered LA business executive. The story in season 4 includes a movie being made about the threesome of podcasters. Eva Longoria will play herself in the role of Mabel, Eugene Levy will play himself in the role of Charles, and Zach Galifianakis will play himself as Oliver. Kumail Nanjiani will also join the cast in a repeat role, but his role is yet to be announced.
A Meteoric Rise In Popularity
The Season 3 finale episode of Only Murders in the Building was Hulu’s most-watched episode of 2023, and the series as a whole is Hulu’s most-watched comedy show ever. Acquiring top 10 status from Nielson ratings, the show’s wild popularity can be attributed to the excellent story-telling for the writers, ensemble acting from the cast, and fantastic aesthetic from the show’s designers and crew.
With Season 4 promising a star-studded cast and twisty storyline that doesn’t take itself too seriously, expectations are that the series’ popularity will continue to grow.
Season 4 Kicks Off On August 27
In the Season 4 trailer, the cast is seen beginning their new podcast season as well as traveling to Hollywood to meet with studio executives about the movie being made about them. Oliver and Charles continue to frustrate Mabel with their antics during negotiations about signing over their life rights for the film, and their escapades continue as they investigate Sazz’s murder.
The next installment of the cozy noir detective series Only Murders in the Building is set to air on August 27 on Hulu. Season 4 will have 10 episodes, in keeping with the previous seasons with show creators John Hoffman and Steve Martin returning for the run.
