Hugh Jackman Responds To Ryan Reynolds Entering The Marvel Cinematic Universe

Fans have been waiting to see what it will look like for Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool when he enters the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It turns out the first crossover was to do a reaction for One Media on YouTube of the actor’s own upcoming movie, Free Guy. He was accompanied by the Thor: Ragnarok character Korg, who is played by the director and writer of the upcoming Thor entry, Taika Waititi. With the commotion from the internet, Hugh Jackman commented on the video.
Ryan Reynolds reposted the video on Instagram to promote both his first time meeting a character in Marvel Studios’ massive franchise and his movie. There were plenty of good reactions that can be read in the comments. Hugh Jackman was one who had to jokingly take a jab at his friend as he was not mentioned. He wrote: “Wow! 4:12 and no mention of me. DP your therapy is working!!!”
Both Deadpool installments have been known for the references involving Hugh Jackman and his iconic portrayal of Wolverine. In the first movie, to hide his scarred-up face when seeing his girlfriend at the climax, the Merc with a Mouth had taped a picture of the Australian actor to his face.
In the sequel, there was a music box of Wolverine’s death and a cereal box referring to the superhero. The comment from the actor must ring true. After all these times of bringing Hugh Jackman up in movies and now not mentioning the X-Men member in an over four-minute video, progress must be being made when it comes to the constant need to talk about his friend.
Hugh Jackman was not the only notable person to comment on the video. Hawkeye himself, Jeremy Renner, commented with heart and clapping emojis. Another major person who commented was Rob Liefeld, the co-creator of the character Cable with writer Louise Simonson and the foul-mouthed anti-hero with writer Fabian Nicieza, commented, “FREE GUY!!!!”
In 2019, Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, thus giving Marvel the X-Men and other characters like Deadpool. While the former will get a clean slate, the company is sticking with what has been established for Wade Wilson. That means we will keep Ryan Reynolds and his co-stars, but finding a new Wolverine to replace Hugh Jackman and other stars will be a task for Kevin Feige and his team. Speculation has been going for how the franchise will introduce Mutants, but with its plans laid out, fans will probably wait a while before this happens.
When it comes to Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds interacting on social media, plenty of jokes are scattered across as they embrace this silly relationship. The two set up a fake feud back in 2009, but in a playful manner. Since then, the two imitating one another or making advertisements where the other one gets referenced still goes on to this day.
We will have to wait and see if Hugh Jackman gets mentioned in Free Guy, which releases on August 13. The film will star Ryan Reynolds as a video game NPC who discovers he is not a real person. He will be joined by Jodie Comer (Killing Eve), Joe Keery (Stranger Things), Taika Waititi, and Lil Rel Howery (Get Out). The sci-fi comedy will be directed by Shawn Levy (Stranger Things) with writers Zak Penn (The Avengers) and Matt Lieberman (Scoob!).
