Ever since the news broke that Hugh Jackman would be joining Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool 3 as his famous character Wolverine, fans of the two actors have been excited at the prospect of seeing Wolverine and Deadpool together again onscreen after more than a decade. Now, the pair have gone one step further today by asking their fans to caption a Throwback Thursday picture of them on Twitter in what appears to be Jackman and Reynolds on set of the new sequel film. Posted to Jackman’s official Twitter account, his 14.9 million social media followers may be taking note that the two men are having a bit of fun with their upcoming film that is still in production.

According to a report by Comicbook.com, the recently posted picture on social media showing Hugh Jackman suggestively holding his hands near his mouth while standing next to Ryan Reynolds in full Deadpool garb is just the latest stunt the two actors have pulled to advertise for their newest joint movie effort. Asking for comments from fans about how to caption the post, the two seem to be enjoying working together again after fake feuds on social media have made them two of the biggest stars to come out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This most recent post follows several mentions on Twitter from director Shawn Levy noting that Jackman was cast in the third installment of the Deadpool franchise, in addition to Reynolds and Jackman making the announcement themselves in a well-publicized video.

Hugh Jackman has starred as Wolverine in various iterations of the X-Men franchise since 2000 alongside a host of actors that includes Halle Berry, Jennifer Lawrence, and Anna Paquin, while Ryan Reynolds has portrayed the R-rated character of Deadpool since 2016. For Reynolds, Deadpool has been a character that has lasted a lot longer than originally expected, since the actor attempted several other roles for Marvel and DC Comics in the past that threatened his career, including the box-office bomb Green Lantern and an appearance in Blade: Trinity. He played Deadpool’s alter ego, Wade Wilson, in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine which was the first time Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman appeared onscreen together in a Marvel film and started their supposed feud ever since.

Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe seem to be thoroughly enjoying seeing Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds playing nice on the set of Deadpool 3, as the two have long had a contentious, albeit fake, feud on social media for years. Hugh Jackman’s post to Twitter today is just one of the many ways the two have been promoting Deadpool 3, which is slated to be released in theaters in September 2024, also an announcement the two actors made together to social media last month. It appears production is still underway and they are still filming the third installment to the Deadpool franchise for now, which means that observant social media users should probably expect to see many more pictures and videos coming their way from the two jokesters.
