The Hottest Action Drama Series Is Now On Netflix

By Jason Collins | Published

Season 1 of one of the hottest action dramas, Fire Country, made its way to Netflix just recently, ahead of Season 3 release scheduled for October this year. This is obviously a completely different scenario from the typical Netflix acquisition because only one season is available at the streamer, while Season 2 remains available exclusively on Paramount+, at least for the time being.

A First-Responder Plot With A Dash Of Redemption

First released in 2022, this CBS drama follows its star Max Thieriot as Bode Donovan, a young convict who finds himself joining an unconventional prison program. The program sees Donovan partnering up with an elite firefighter, who teaches the convict how to extinguish flames and help the endangered. Though it sounds like one, Fire Country isn’t actually like other first-responder TV series present on streaming right now, primarily because it focuses on personal redemption and moral struggles set against the firefighting backdrop.

Not A Critical Darling, But A Fan-Favorite

Fire Country had a lukewarm reception from the critics, with Rotten Tomatoes score sitting at 44 percent. However, despite not pleasing the critics, Fire Country continued to please the audiences, providing the series with a rather strong viewership that resulted in the series renewal for a second season three months following the Season 1 premiere. Then, just one month following the Season 2 premiere on Paramount+, CBS’s streaming service from which Netflix recently acquired plenty of its content, announced Season 3, which is currently scheduled for an October release window.

Fire Country Will Surely Experience The Netflix Effect

This indicates that the viewership exists and that Fire Country is actually a fairly popular series worth subsequent exploration, and its move to Netflix exposes it to a greater number of eyes, potentially making it even more successful. Netflix is a pretty good home for nearly any series at the moment because it faces very little competition in terms of popularity, and other first-responder releases on the platform—at least when it comes to firefighting—give Fire Country free rein over the platform.

The Streamer Switcheroo For Season 2

As previously stated, Season 2 of Fire Country is currently available only on Paramount+, so viewers who binge the first season on Netflix might have to switch to Paramount+ for the second season, especially since no word was given on whether Season 2 might make an appearance on Netflix as well. It’s an odd combination, but it’s entirely possible that the entire series will jump to Netflix at some point, or CBS will just give Netflix Season One of the series to entice the fans into switching to Paramount+ for more.

Season 1 Of Fire Country Streaming On Netflix

The first, though not confirmed, is equally as viable as the second option. Netflix has become home to many releases relinquished by both Paramount+ and Max (formerly HBO Max), including Dexter, Insecure, Ballers, Your Honor, and Star Trek: Prodigy.

This is particularly true after Paramount started experiencing financial difficulties, which led to their most recent acquisition deal with SkyDance Media. With that said, Fire Country is a rather fantastic series that explores themes of redemption and second chances, personal sacrifices, and community bonds.

Those interested in watching Fire Country can watch Season 1 of the series on Netflix and subsequent seasons on the series’ native platform.
