Henry Cavill To Make His Marvel Debut In Another Hero’s Upcoming Movie?
Could Henry Cavill be making the move to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and starring in another character's feature film off the bat?

The rumors about where Henry Cavill will land in the comic book movie world as a near-daily thing these days. It’s one of the ongoing questions around both the future of the DC Extended Universe but the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well. What will happen with Cavill? Will he maintain his current role or maybe even swap studios? Well according to a new rumor from We Got This Covered, Cavill could find himself making an MCU debut in another superhero’s movie with the possibility the actor lands as Captain Britain in when Captain America 4 actually hits screens.
Now, this is just a rumor and is also way off in the future, but there’s at least some credence to not only this casting but also the introduction of the character into this timeline. For starters, we know that Henry Cavill looks the part, having traipsed around as Superman through three-plus (I’m counting the Justice Leagues as like 1.5 movies here) films in DC. We know he can look and play the part of a superhero. So that part is basically solved science. Casting him in another franchise with a similar role to his previous stint in DC isn’t all the big a leap with where we are in superhero films these days. The dimension shifting and universe swapping, even within the same properties is so established at this point that I don’t think fans would even really bat an eye at Henry Cavill making the move.
Then there’s the idea of Captain Britain jumping into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with this next Captain America movie. Considering the events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier at least partially focused on the nationalism and idealism around the character we know that’s a storyline ripe for the picking. Now that Sam Wilson is the rightful holder of the shield and patriotic garb, it stands to reason there would be renewed questions about how other countries act with their heroes in this new world. What better way than to get the British version up on the screen as something of a juxtaposition and with Henry Cavill as the new Captain?
Now, this is all possibly putting the cape before the unitard really considering we don’t even know what awaits Henry Cavill in the DC Extended Universe. There’s speculation that he’s very much on the outs as the character even in the wake of the relative success of Zack Snyder’s Justice League. The next Superman solo movie, produced by J.J. Abrams and penned by Ta-Nehisi Coates will have a black actor in the lead role meaning Cavill is definitely not in that one. And there’s reason to think DC is beginning to move off the character, leaning into the other members of the League like Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, or Ezra Miller’s The Flash.
What happens with Henry Cavill in the world of superheroes and spandex is anyone’s guess. There’s a good chance, based on the sheer amount of rumors that he lands in some get-up somewhere with some powers to go along with it. It could be back in DC as Superman, or maybe going his native English route as Captain Britain. Either would be fitting at this point.
