See Henry Cavill As Game Of Thrones’ New Targaryen
A fan imagined what Henry Cavill would look like in the House of the Dragon universe, and fans are now pushing for it to happen.
2022 wasn’t very kind to Henry Cavill. The actor lost (or was fired) from his two most notable roles on Netflix’s The Witcher and as the long-running Superman, not to mention he was bumped from the Highlander reboot. While it’s been tough out there for the action-centered British actor, his loyal fans are still pulling for him, with one dedicated follower campaigning for Cavill to end up on the highly anticipated second season of HBO’s House of the Dragon. Taking to Reddit to share the star’s potential as a Targaryen, the user posted an image, which you can see below.
In the shot, viewers can feast their eyes on a hunky Henry Cavill sitting atop a giant, scaled dragon. With long blonde hair flowing over his shoulders, there’s no arguing that the Man of Steel star would fit in perfectly alongside the rest of the cast. Staring defiantly in front of him, the picture looks like he’s ready to swoop into battle and wipe out his enemies.
The rumor mill has been working overtime, hoping that by applying pressure to House of the Dragon, they’ll include Henry Cavill and WandaVision and MCU star Elizabeth Olsen in the next season’s lineup. Things only got more heated for Cavill’s side of the whisperings when it was made official that the star had been cut from James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios with no projects surrounding his version of Superman coming up anytime soon. It was around this time that he also cemented his fate in Netflix’s fantasy series, The Witcher, leaving his role as Geralt behind after two seasons.
To say that fans were less than pleased with both pieces of news would be a severe understatement, with many feeling that they were promised more stories about Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel, including a fight between him and Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam. Things were beginning to look up for Cavill devotees when the actor was cast in the Highlander reboot, but those hopes also came crashing down. With Cavill cut from the production, the team is now eyeing up Captain America himself, Chris Evans.
While all of these things certainly spell out a better chance for Henry Cavill to pick up a sword, hop on a dragon, and conquer Westeros, there’s still no confirmation that the actor will actually take a role in House of the Dragon Season 2. It would certainly be a major step forward for his career after losing three big roles, and there’s no doubt in our mind that fans would love to see Cavill back in a medieval setting opposite Matt Smith.
Serving as a prequel series to the network’s smash-hit, Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon follows the earlier days of the Targaryen dynasty when the family is at civil war with one another. Drawing in record viewership, the series was immediately a fan-favorite, with crushing performances coming from Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Paddy Considine, Eve Best, and many more. With such a dynamite cast for the first season, we’d love to see the likes of Henry Cavill join the ranks and bring even more glory (and star power) to House Targaryen.
