Exclusive: Henry Cavill Making Huge Deal With Amazon For Game Adaptations
Henry Cavill is getting a first-look deal with Amazon Studios for game adaptations.
Henry Cavill is getting into a first-look deal with Amazon Prime Video to act as producer for multiple game adaptations for the streaming service. According to our trusted and proven sources, the former Superman actor is looking to go all in with Amazon Studios, where he is to star in a series adaptation of his beloved Warhammer 40,000. Given that Henry Cavill is a famously avid gamer, there is no end to the games he might be looking to produce.
First up, Henry Cavill will be starring and executive producing in some form of a Warhammer 40,000 series for Amazon, which he is reportedly a fan of both in gaming and the various fiction spin-offs. Since the Warhammer 40,000 series is set in a sprawling, enormous universe full of various alien species, space elves, colonial marines, and Chaos gods, there is really no end to the stories that could be told there.
Henry Cavill is also known to be a fan of multiple games that Amazon could adapt, including Total War, World of Warcraft, and Delta Force. A first-look deal essentially means that any potential project of this sort would have to be brought to Henry Cavill first for right of first refusal, after which Amazon could do what it wants with his cast-offs. This does not narrow down what Henry Cavill and Amazon might get up to together, but it is interesting to know that the actor is looking to make his home at a new studio.
After all, it was not that long ago that Henry Cavill was firmly ensconced at rival streaming service Netflix with his series The Witcher, also based on one of his favorite games. He has since left that series, to be replaced by Liam Hemsworth, though it seems at least the developers of the games still have some fondness for Geralt of Rivera.
Up until recently, Henry Cavill was also the official Superman of the DC Universe under Warner Bros. Discovery, which seems like it could be a pretty full-time gig. Despite showing up for the first time in years for a mid-credits cameo in Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam, it became swiftly apparent that the new DCU management of James Gunn and Peter Safran had no plans to keep him as Superman. In a very short amount of time, Henry Cavill seems to be out two very high-profile roles.
However, Henry Cavill teaming up with Amazon is a pretty big deal and will doubtlessly lead to some major releases. In addition to whatever game adaptation projects the two come up with, Henry Cavill is currently set to star in the Matthew Vaughn spy thriller Argyll, along with Samuel L. Jackson, Sam Rockwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, John Cena, Dua Lipa, and pretty much the majority of Hollywood. If this means there will also be time for us to see Henry Cavill in a Horus Heresy storyline for Amazon Prime Video, we are all fine with that.
