He-Man Fans Don’t Have To Wait Long At All For More Masters Of The Universe
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe has made an exciting announcement that should have the series back sooner than later

In the last year, Netflix released two very different He-Man series based on the popular 80s franchise. Kevin Smith created a new continuation of the story from the original Masters of The Universe cartoon. And Mattel Television developed He-Man and the Masters of The Universe, a brand new version aimed at a younger audience. After a successful first-season run, Netflix has finally revealed the premiere date for the latter show’s second season.
The announcement was made in a post on social media via the official Masters of the Universe Twitter account. “You won’t have to wait long! He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Season 2 is coming March 3rd,” the tweet read. The caption was accompanied by a promotional poster for the Netflix series featuring Prince Adam holding the Sword of Grayskull.
There are currently no plot details about the second season of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. But the main voice cast, which showcases the talents of Yuri Lowenthal, David Kaye, and Kimberly Brooks, is likely to remain unchanged. Showrunner Rob David is also expected to return, having been part of the Masters of the Universe world for almost a decade through its comic book iterations with DC. While the show is nothing thing like the original (nor did it try to be), it was generally well-received by new fans – most of which had no prior connection to the franchise.
The first season of Netflix’s He-Man and the Masters of the Universe told the story of an amnesiac Prince Adam who was separated from his father King Randor during the treachery of his uncle Keldor. After joining a Tiger Tribe with his best friend Krass’tine, Adam soon discovers a Power Sword that turns him into He-Man. With Cringer, Krass’tine, and their new allies Teela and Duncan, Prince Adam works to fight the forces of Keldor (after his transformation into Skeletor) and his henchmen Evil-Lyn, Beast Man, and Trap-Jaw.
The second season of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is expected to pick up directly after season one. In the season finale, He-Man and his friends were unable to stop Skeletor from taking over the throne of Eternos and were forced to separate. This could mean that probably season two will focus on the team getting back together and devising a new plan to destroy Skeletor’s staff and defeat the Dark Masters forever.
Interestingly, episodes of the classic 1980s He-Man cartoon did not make it onto Netflix. But they are all available to stream via Amazon Prime. Released in 1983, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe was one of the most popular animated shows of that time. It ran for three years and comprised two seasons of 65 episodes each. Towards the end of the show’s original run, it spawned a feature-length theatrical movie called He-Man and She-Ra: The Secret of the Sword. The film served as the introduction for the show’s spinoff series She-Ra: Princess of Power.
Reruns continued to air in syndication until 1988, at which point USA Network bought the rights to the series. The USA aired He-Man and the Masters of the Universe until September 1990. The success of the syndicated toy-based show massively influenced other animation houses to produce half-hour cartoons and changed the syndicated cartoon market forever. Over the years, the franchise has been adapted many times in comic books, comic strips, cartoons, and live-action movies.
