HBO Fans Rejoice As Long-Awaited Series Returns For Season 3 With Full Cast

By Jason Collins | Updated

Season 3 of the Zendaya-led drama series Euphoria will begin filming at the start of next year following turbulent production plagued by indefinite delays. These delays were, admittedly, announced and made public, but that doesn’t change the fact that they extended the waiting period for the fans of the series, who wanted to feast their eyes on Euphoria Season 3.

Filming Begins In January

According to HBO’s post on X (former Twitter), Euphoria Season 3 is scheduled to begin filming in January next year, which means that the series will resume active production three years after the second season was released.

Assuming that the production schedule for the new season is similar to that of previous releases—which took ten months from the start of filming to premiere—Season 3 could potentially be released in early 2026 if everything goes according to plan. However, it’s worth noting that no one has confirmed the exact or approximate release date yet.

Four Years Between Seasons

What makes this even more exciting is the fact that Euphoria Season 3 brings back the series’ principal cast, including Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, Hunter Schafer, and Jacob Elordi. It’s also worth noting that four years will have passed between the previous and upcoming season if the latter premiers in 2026, which is a considerable gap, with the series cast aging away further from the youth of the high-school characters they portray.

Angus Cloud

The lengthy break isn’t without reason; the production was halted due to last year’s Hollywood labor disputes between studios, writers, and actors and the death of Angus Cloud, who portrayed Fezco, one of the series’ fan-favorite characters. This break became even longer when HBO announced that it was postponing the series indefinitely due to its cast members pursuing other projects. Zendaya, Sweeney, and Elordi all starred in a total of 13 movies, which further contributed to the lengthy wait for Euphoria Season 3 production to start.

The Fans Have Been Waiting

Despite the wait, this is good news, especially since Euphoria was renewed for Season 3 after its second season premiered. While nobody had expected it, a multi-year wait for the next season of the series left the fandom without any conclusion or closure, which is a specific pain point because Season 2 ended up with more than one cliffhanger about its characters and their lives. As stated above, the prolonged wait wasn’t without reason, but there were other things that hindered production.

Cast Changes And The Reality Of Aging

For example, Barbie Ferreira, the actress who portrayed Kat Hernandez, previously stated that she would not return for Euphoria Season 3, citing creative differences with the series creator Sam Levinson over her character’s development. So, with all the delays and everything going on behind the scenes, it’s not outside the realm of possibilities for the story to experience a time jump, especially now that the stars are four years older compared to the conclusion of Season 2.

Sure, de-aging them digitally is also an option that poses the question of whether or not such actions are financially viable. As always, time will tell, and the most important thing is that Euphoria Season 3 isn’t left to ferment in development hell.
