One of HBO’s best series is coming back to life after a brief hiatus. When fans of the show thought all was over for the story and characters, it seems True Detective is coming back for another season. The show was an anthology series that aired on HBO, and had a wide range of actors that took a role, including Matthew McConaughey, Colin Farrell, Mahershala Ali, and Vince Vaughn. The last season aired back in 2019, and word is: True Detective is coming back for a grand, fourth season on HBO.
The series so far has a title of True Detective: Night Country, and some top names have already been added to assist in the production of the project. According to Deadline, Issa Lopez will be writing the script for the fourth season of the series. Lopez is a Mexican film producer, and writer. She is known for her excellent writing skills, so it makes sense that she was recruited to write the script for the show. According to Collider, Lopez will write, direct, and also be the executive producer of the pilot. The publication also stated that Barry Jenkins will also have the role as executive producer for the fourth season.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nic Pizzolatto, who created the show, most likely won’t have much of a role on with the new season if it is officially picked up for a full run. There is a potential for Pizzolatto to be given the title of an executive producer. Due to the fact that the fourth season is still at the very beginning stages of production, there is no news of cast members or storyline at the moment. With Isasa Lopez given the task of writing the script for True Detective, it seems the show will have great dialogue for the actors to work with. Lopez is known for a few films, such as Tigers Are Not Afraid, which garnered her a list of nominations and awards.

The plot followed the two detectives as they hunted a serial killer. The second season starred Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, and Vince Vaughn. The second season’s setting took place in sunny California, and followed three detectives as they try to solve a murder of ac corrupt politician. The second season ended in 2015, and a third season was picked up and aired four years later in 2019. The season starred Mahershala Ali, Carmen Ejogo, and Stephen Orff. The series took place in the Ozarks, with detectives trying to solve a gruesome crime involving two children. The first season received high praise and reviews, leading to nominations such as an Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series.
The premise of the show has more of a darker tone, and is known for its storyline and cinematography. If the fourth season is officially picked up, there is no doubt that the fourth season of True Detective will be incredible, especially with the team assembled so far. As time goes by, more news and details of the fourth season will be released as the production goes into full swing.
