Hailee Steinfeld took to Twitter this weekend to leave a very mysterious Tweet for fans about a project finally happening. Fans were quick to assume that Steinfeld was referring to her returning as Kate Bishop in Hawkeye Season 2 since a second season has not been officially announced. While Marvel didn’t give any hints about a second season of the series when they laid out their plans for Phase 5 and Phase 6, perhaps it could fill one of the mystery slots in Phase 6 that don’t have any specific projects attached.
With that being said, Hawkeye Season 2 is far from the only project Hailee Steinfeld could be referring to. Steinfeld is involved in numerous franchises including Transformers, Arcane, and the animated Sony Spiderverse films. She also recently released a new single featuring Anderson .Paak with a lyric video, so she could be referring to a possible music video to accompany the song.
Still, that doesn’t mean fans aren’t going to jump at any chance of Hawkeye Season 2 happening. The series was a solid addition to the MCU and many loved seeing Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, Alaqua Cox’s Echo, Steinfeld’s portrayal of Kate Bishop, and the dramatic reintroduction of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk to the MCU. The ending definitely left things open for more adventures with Kate Bishop, so you have to imagine that a second season of the show is in the cards.
Fans have been especially suspicious of the possibility of Hawkeye Season 2 after Disney submitted Hawkeye to the Emmys under the Outstanding Comedy Series category rather than the limited series category. If there weren’t potential plans for a second season, Disney probably would have gone for the limited series slot instead. While that move by Disney doesn’t necessarily guarantee a second season, it means that it’s not out of the question.
Even if there isn’t a Hawkeye Season 2, it’s incredibly likely that we’ll be seeing more of Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop in future MCU projects. One of the top rumors is that she’ll be in a Young Avengers project that will put her with other characters like Ms. Marvel, Cassie Lang, Ironheart, and various other potential candidates. Of course, it also seems possible that she would appear in the next major Avengers crossover events, with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.
While we wait to find out whether or not Hawkeye Season 2 will ever come to fruition, we can expect to see more of several characters from the first season of Hawkeye. Alaqua Cox will be starring in her own solo Echo series which is also set to bring back Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin/Wilson Fisk. Meanwhile, we can definitely expect to see Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova again when she stars in the anti-hero team-up movie Thunderbolts in 2024.
If you want to catch up on the first season of Hawkeye, you can check it out on Disney+. You can also stream the entire first season of the most recent Disney+ Marvel series She-Hulk. For Marvel’s next big film, you can check out Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in theaters on November 11.
