Haunted Mansion Star Says The Ghosts Are Real
Disney’s Haunted Mansion is coming to theaters soon, and the film fittingly takes place in New Orleans, which is believed to be one of the most haunted cities in the country. Owen Wilson is in the Haunted Mansion reboot, and when asked if he believes in ghosts during an interview with ComicBook.com, the Loki star said he certainly does.
Haunted Mansion star Owen Wilson confirms he’s a believer in ghosts.
“I do,” Owen Wilson said. “I’ve kind of been changing my answer because earlier on it was, ‘I’d like to. I’ve never experienced it.’ But I think that there is more going on than meets the eye. And I like the idea that there’s something supernatural. Just that word, ‘supernatural.'”
So, while it sounds like Owen Wilson is certainly open to the idea of ghosts existing, he didn’t necessarily have a straight-up ghost experience while filming Haunted Mansion in New Orleans.
There are plenty of supernatural skeptics out there, but it seems Wilson could be put firmly in the ‘maybe’ camp, at least for now. In any case, his character in Haunted Mansion will certainly be encountering quite a few ghosts.
Haunted Mansion will see Disney finally returning to the franchise after the 2003 Eddie Murphy film, which was inspired by the popular Disneyland ride. The 2023 Haunted Mansion film sees a doctor (Rosario Dawson) moving to an oddly affordable mansion in New Orleans with her son (Chase Dillon), only to find that the mansion is infested with ghosts.
To solve her problem, she calls upon the help of a priest (Owen Wilson), a scientist/paranormal expert (LaKeith Stanfield), a psychic (Tiffany Haddish), and a historian (Danny DeVito). Justin Simien directs the film with a script by Katie Dippold.
“I’ve kind of been changing my answer because earlier on it was, ‘I’d like to. I’ve never experienced it.’ But I think that there is more going on than meets the eye. And I like the idea that there’s something supernatural. Just that word, ‘supernatural.'”

Other stars of Haunted Mansion include Jamie Lee Curtis, Jared Leto, Winona Ryder, Dan Levy, and Hasan Minhaj. The film is set to hit theaters on July 28. Haunted Mansion won’t be the only project we see from Owen Wilson before the year is over, as he is also set to reprise his MCU role as Mobius in the upcoming second season of the Disney+ series Loki.
Owen Wilson In Loki
Along with Owen Wilson, Season 2 of Loki will see Tom Hiddleston, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Eugene Cordero, Tara Strong, and Sophia Di Martino reprising their roles from the first season. New members of the cast include Rafael Casal, Kate Dickie, Liz Carr, and Ke Huy Quan.
Jonathan Majors is also expected to return as Victor Timely, a variant of Kang and He Who Remains who was seen in the post-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
There aren’t too many details about Loki Season 2, but the season will see Tom Hiddleston’s Loki once again working with Owen Wilson’s Mobius as agents of the Time Variance Authority. It will be interesting to see how this plays out, considering Wilson’s character didn’t remember Loki at the end of the previous season.
The six-episode entry should be a fairly important entry to the MCU‘s multiverse saga, as the previous season introduced the concept of the multiverse to the MCU along with its main villain Kang the Conquerer.
You can see Owen Wilson reprise his role as Mobius when Loki Season 2 premiers on Disney+ on October 6 of this year. Make sure to check out Haunted Mansion when it hits theaters on July 28. In the meantime, stay tuned for more news on Disney and the MCU.
