Harrison Ford Gets Season 2 Of Surprise Hit Series
Harrison Ford has been a busy man lately, but now the actor is officially returning for Shrinking Season 2, his surprise hit series on Apple TV+. The series is also coming back soon, with the steamer officially confirming that the premiere date is on Wednesday, October 16. The series is co-created by Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein, who both worked on Apple TV+’s extremely successful Ted Lasso.
The Cast
Shrinking stars Jason Segel as Jimmy, a therapist who is grieving the death of his wife and who decides to start telling his clients exactly what he thinks. While this goes against all of the ethics of therapy, Jimmy soon finds himself making big changes in people’s lives. Along with Harrison Ford and Segel, Shrinking Season 2 also stars Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, Lukita Maxwell, Michael Urie, Luke Tennie and Ted McGinley.
Marvel Premieres
While it’s no surprise that Harrison Ford and Jason Segel are returning for Shrinking Season 2, Ted Lasso fans will also be happy to know that co-creator Brett Goldstein is set to play a guest role in the second season.
For now, his role is being kept under wraps, so it’ll be interesting to see who he ends up playing. It’ll also be an on-screen collaboration between two of the newest additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Goldstein previously appeared in a post-credits sequence as Hercules, and Ford is set to make his MCU debut next year.
A Critical Darling
Harrison Ford and Jason Segel’s Shrinking got great reviews in the first season and it seems likely that Season 2 will follow suit based on Goldstein and Lawrence’s track record with their Apple TV+ shows.
The first season also nabbed a couple of Emmy nominations, though it has yet to catch on quite as much as Ted Lasso. Perhaps the arrival of Season 2 will get more viewers interested.
Red Hulk
Harrison Ford is now wrapped up with filming on both Shrinking Season 2 with work on Captain America: Brave New World over, which wrapped reshoots in June.
Ford is taking over the role of Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross from the late William Hurt and, despite his previously feigned confusion on whether or not he’d play Red Hulk, the most recent trailer gave us a big hint that Ross would finally be transforming into his angry alter-ego. It seems likely that Ford will be a big part of the MCU going forward, and it’ll be cool to see what he brings to the role
Uncertain Marvel Future
For now, Harrison Ford only has Shrinking Season 2 and Captain America: Brave New World on his upcoming release schedule, but, hopefully, we’ll see some more projects from the actor soon.
While it was previously announced that his character would appear in the movie Thunderbolts, other reports have indicated that he might actually not be appearing in that film.
Then we have the newly announced Avengers: Doomsday, which will presumably have plenty of MCU characters in it, but it remains to be seen if Thunderbolt Ross will be one of them.
