Halle Berry Is Making A Sci-Fi Movie For Netflix
Halle Berry has a new sci-fi movie in the works with Netflix.

Halle Berry is making power moves at Netflix. The streaming company is already set to release Berry’s directorial debut, which will hopefully be coming soon. Now, they’ve signed her on to star in their upcoming sci-fi thriller The Mothership. She’ll also be working as one of the executive producers on the movie.
In The Mothership, Halle Berry played Sara Morse, a wife, mother, and homeowner. Her husband mysteriously disappears. One year later, lost and unsure of what to do next, she discovers something strange under her home. Something extraterrestrial. She teams up with her children to figure out what’s going on, and eventually, possibly, the CIA.
Collider has heard from their sources that The Mothership will have a budget of $30-$40 million. This puts the Halle Berry project in the mid-budget range. Production should begin in the spring.
The new Halle Berry movie is being written and directed by Matt Charman. He won an Oscar for his work on the Tom Hanks movie Bridge of Spies. More relevant to the current sci-fi announcement, he also worked on the television movie Oasis, a science fiction story based on the novel The Book of Strange New Things.
Halle Berry isn’t new to science fiction. She’s played an astronaut twice now. First, she was in the television series Extant. On that show, she returned home from space to find out she was pregnant. Currently, we are waiting to see her in Moonfall. This movie comes from Roland Emmerich, the writer/director responsible for Independence Day. In this new movie, Halle Berry and her team will land on the moon after it’s hit by an asteroid. Now, the moon is on a collision course with earth. Moonfall will be released in theaters on October 22, 2021.
Mostly, Halle Berry is known for her Oscar-winning role in Monster’s Ball, her time as Storm in X-Men, and unfortunately, Catwoman, which could have been better.
Clearly, Halle Berry may soon be changing what movies we know her for. Her directorial debut, Bruised, was shown at the Toronto Film Festival as a work-in-progress. Berry starred in the movie where she plays an MMA fighter. Her character has a redemption arc. She is proving herself as both a top fighter and a mother back at home. The movie was met favorably. Netflix won the distribution rights with a deal said to be just under $20 million.
While training for the mixed-martial arts movie, Halle Berry broke two of her ribs. This happened just before filming was about to start. Starring in the first movie you’re about to direct proved to have a few unexpected struggles. However, Berry was determined not to slow down. She said she compartmentalized the pain she was in, much like an MMA fighter would, and kept on acting and directing with the broken ribs. Apparently, her dedication paid off.
The actress and new director seems to be on a bit of a streak with all of her upcoming projects at the moment. Netflix isn’t letting anyone know when Bruised will be released on the streaming service, though audiences are expecting it will be soon. Now, they’ve signed her on for The Mothership. And later this year we’ll be seeing her in Moonfall. Hopefully, this will mean a lot more projects for Halle Berry soon. Most recently, we saw her in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum with Keanu Reeves. Prior to that, she had a small part in Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
However, Halle Berry’s fans probably most often see her on Instagram these days. The actress is quite active on social media. She’s good at it, too. She posts enough interesting things that when you search for news articles about the star, they’re all going to cover the latest thing she did on social media. For example, she shared the story of her first kiss, which was with a girl. Her close friend taught her how to french kiss before she made out with her boyfriend. On Valentines Day, she posted a short video with her boyfriend where she danced in cute heart print underwear with no top on. She also posts a new book recommendation every month and is a fan of author Brené Brown. As she works on her new Netflix movie The Mothership, we can expect to see more Instagram updates from behind the scenes on the project.
