Whoever decided to let A.I. create entertainment knew that it would cause massive issues. People all over the internet have been throwing random image requests from artificial intelligence, and the result is something quite horrifying. The same can be said for A.I.-generated videos. Well, someone decided to allow artificial intelligence to transform Halle Bailey into a white woman for The Little Mermaid live-action remake. You can see the A.I.-generated video above. The film has been surrounded with controversy, as people oddly take issue with Ariel not being white in this new live-action remake. Fans on Twitter have been coming to the defense of Bailey.
We are not sure what the CGI uncanny valley is, but we agree that Halley Bailey has a ton of talent and The Little Mermaid remake is going to be great. She is quite a talented woman, and from the trailers, she is going to do just fine in the role.
We are not sure if this is some sort of support or hatred for Halle Bailey in The Little Mermaid. Mermaids are mythical creatures, so they should be able to be portrayed by anyone. No one knows how mermaids looked, so let Bailey shine.
We might not have been watching the same video, but the AI-generated video doesn’t quite look realistic. Halle Bailey as The Little Mermaid looks quite real, but that might be because she is.
The “fixed” movie is the artificial intelligent one? We would argue that Halle Bailey as The Little Mermaid is going to be vastly better than anything that A.I. would produce.
Apparently, this Twitter user doesnt understand that many races can have red hair. Halle Bailey looks amazing as Ariel, and her amazing voice is going to carry The Little Mermaid to some great new heights.
This Twitter user decide to reinforce our point. Red hair is certainly not only for people that are caucasian. Halle Bailey in The Little Mermaid is going to be great.
The internet is always going to be divided into casting announcements. That is always the case, but to think that a certain character should remain a certain race based on older versions is not how we move forward. All the films and shows that change the race of characters are certainly within their right to do so. These are fictionalized characters, so what does it matter what color their skin happens to be? We are more than happy to see how Halle Bailey does in The Little Mermaid. She has an incredible voice and has shown that she can certainly showcase her acting skills as well. We are excited about the new film.
Halle Bailey and The Little Mermaid are going to be debuting on May 26, 2023. Rob Marshall is directing the film. The man has famously directed Mary Poppins Returns, Into the Woods, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and Chicago. He has a great vision for blending music into his films, and he is plenty capable to make this new live-action remake a great film. Disney knows what is doing.
