Hayley Atwell star shone on the red carpet to honor the 60th Anniversary of the first James Bond movie, Dr. No, at a star-studded party in London. Looking incredible on her Instagram in a sheer blue gown and golden corset, the British actress managed to show off her legs, her figure, and some of the best cheekbones in the business all at the same time. The tasteful ensemble was capped off with a gold handbag accessory from Omega, sponsors of the party to celebrate MI-6’s premier agent and their own James Bond licensed watch.
Hayley Atwell has not played a part in any of the current James Bond films, but does have experience playing British super spy Peggy Carter in multiple Marvel projects. Originally appearing as Chris Evans’ on-screen love interest in Captain America: The First Avenger, the gorgeous actress then went on to play Peggy again in her own series, Agent Carter, which aired for two seasons on ABC. Most recently, the celebrity played the What If? version of Peggy as Captain Carter in Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.
While the star is conventionally attractive and often turning heads at movie premieres around the globe, Hayley Atwell took her role as Peggy Carter, a tough, boundary breaking military officer during World War II, quite seriously. In a famous response to a fan asking “Why are you so beautiful?” The actress responded with “Why am I so photoshopped?”
Hayley Atwell used a then-recent German magazine cover as an example of the effect photoshopping had on her public persona. Playing the part of Agent Carter gave the actress a platform to educate young women on the differences between reality and how the media portrays women. The acclaimed actress, with 22 major award nominations in her career, used her elevated MCU position to fight for women when the initial Harvey Weinstein accusations were first being made public in 2017.
In between her MCU appearances as Peggy Carter, Hayley Atwell continues to take roles in London theater productions. Most recently, the period drama star appeared as Rebecca West in the Duke’s York Theatre production of Rosmersholm, a dark Norwegian play about class struggles and suicide. On a lighter note, the British celebrity will also soon be seen in theaters as part of the ensemble for Tom Cruise’s latest films, Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning: Part 1 and Part 2.
Meanwhile, the star-studded James Bond anniversary event included the most recent actor to portray the spy, Daniel Craig. The star is not likely to return to the role of Bond after 2021’s No Time to Die, currently leaving the fate of the franchise up in the air. While fans have suggested plenty of other British stars to take on the role, fans of Hayley Atwell have likewise been hoping for the actress to get a sizable role in the British franchise.
At the moment, it appears that Hayley Atwell attended the 60th anniversary party to simply honor the films and the many actors that have held the role of James Bond. No plans currently exist for the British beauty to bring her spy-acting skills into the long-running franchise. For now, fans must wait for the latest films from the American spy franchise, Mission: Impossible, to get a taste of Atwell as a secret agent one more time.
