James Gunn has already brought new life to the DC Universe, and he’s only been CEO of DC Studios for a matter of months. After winning over fans with his revival of The Suicide Squad in 2021 and receiving critical acclaim for HBO’s Peacemaker (2022), DC fans can’t wait to see what else Gunn has in store for future company projects. In a cryptic tweet, Gunn himself suggested that he might be bringing Marvel star Pom Klementieff over to the DC Universe.

Gunn tweeted an image from the popular DC mini-series Kingdom Come with the short and mysterious caption, “Making plans.” The mini-series takes place in the near future of the DC Universe at a time when the heroes have lost their moral compass and become nearly as bad as the villains they fight. The tweet sent fans into a frenzy as they assumed the image meant that Gunn is working on bringing the Kingdom Come story into DC’s cinematic universe.

After Klementieff replied to Gunn’s tweet with the single word, “Exciting,” followed by celebration emojis, one Twitter user responded that they hoped the actress was a part of Gunn’s plan. Gunn replied to the user, saying that the actress, who is known for playing Mantis in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, is always a part of his plans.

But if fans were excited about the possibility of a Kingdom Come arc, it was nothing compared to how they reacted when Gunn hinted that Pom Klementieff might be joining the DC universe.

The writer, director, and CEO of DC Studios gave no more information, leaving fans to speculate who Pom Klementieff might play in upcoming DC movies. Some considered the actress perfect for the assassin-for-hire martial arts master, Lady Shiva, who is known for killing her targets with her bare hands. Others thought Klementieff could pull off the sadistic Punchline, the henchwoman who partners with the Joker after the Clown Prince of Crime has his fallout with Harley Quinn.

Some Twitter users responded to the thread, reminding fans that Pom Klementieff has already been in a DC movie. She played an unnamed dancer at the La Gatita Amable club in Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, which was released in 2021, after her first appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which was released in 2017. The actress appears about an hour into the movie and can be easily missed, but fans wondered if this was Gunn’s way of introducing Klementieff as a new character whose storyline will be followed further down the road.

With Marvel alumn James Gunn officially heading DC Studios, it’s possible that a lot of Marvel actors may cross the threshold into their competitor’s studio. At this point, no official announcements have been made as to whether Pom Klementieff will join the DC Universe as an official character. It’s possible that Gunn was hinting at future projects with the Guardians actress, but it’s also possible the tweets were a teasing banter exchanged between friends.

Until more information has been revealed, fans will have to continue speculating who Pom Klementieff might be showing up as in the DC Universe.
