It’s hard to beat Star-Lord grooving to “Come and Get Your Love” in the opening to Guardians of the Galaxy, but the dancing duo of James Bye and Amy Dowden from the British series Strictly Come Dancing sure gives Chris Pratt a run for his money. The two dancers, appropriately cosplaying as Star-Lord and Gamora, cut a rug to Blue Swede’s “Hooked on a Feeling.” The performance was good enough to catch the attention of Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, who jokes about keeping the scene for the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

It’s hard to beat a co-sign from James Gunn if you’re paying tribute to Guardians of the Galaxy, especially since that movie has two iconic dance moments, with Peter Quill saving the world through a dance-off at the end of the movie. James Gunn added another iconic dance moment to his filmography earlier this year when he created the opening to Peacemaker set to Wig Wam’s “Do You Really Wanna Taste It.” With Season 2 of Peacemaker and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 both coming in the near future, we can hopefully look forward to some more dance routines in the near future.

Before we see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3., we’ll get a chance to catch up with the crew of the Milano in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is lined up for a December 2022 release date. This will be Marvel’s second holiday special this year following their fantastic Halloween special Werewolf by Night.

We’ll have to wait a bit longer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which is scheduled for a May 5, 2023 release date. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be James Gunn’s final contribution to this version of the Guardians team and will finish up the story he set out to tell with the first movie. Of course, this means that the key characters will all be returning for one last ride, including Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Karen Gillan as Nebula, and Pom Klementieff as Mantis.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will also bring some new faces to the mix, including Will Poulter as the long-anticipated Adam Warlock. Chukwudi Iwuji also joins the cast as the High Evolutionary and Maria Bakalova will play Cosmo the Spacedog. Daniela Melchior and Nico Santos have also been cast in currently undisclosed roles.

Other returning actors include Elizabeth Debicki, Sean Gunn, Sylvester Stallone, and Michael Rosenbaum. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will likely be a pretty significant part of Marvel’s Phase 5 slate of films. It’ll be interesting to see how it ends up affecting the MCU as a whole.

While we wait for the next Guardians of the Galaxy projects, you can check out the recently released Werewolf by Night and the ongoing She-Hulk series. Marvel will hit us with their next big blockbuster on November 11 when Black Panther: Wakanda Forever comes out. After that, we’ll have to wait until February 17 for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania to kick off Marvel’s Phase 5.
