Grogu’s Floating Baby Carriage Is About To Become Real
In The Mandalorian, Grogu (aka Baby Yoda) doesn’t walk very fast, and in real life, he’s a literal puppet, which makes moving him around a bit of a pain. The perfect solution was a chrome floating baby carriage that fits perfectly in the Star Wars world while also becoming an iconic part of Grogu’s on-screen persona. Now it looks like Disney might be trying to bring that floating baby carriage tech to life, as it filed a patent for an “Airframe of a volitant body,” aka a flying toy device.
The Patent Filed By Disney
The patent for this technology was filed about a year after the premiere of The Mandalorian, which is perfect timing to indicate that this patent is for a floating Grogu baby carriage. Once Disney knew that the character was a hit, the company made sure that it would have the rights to the tech that would let them make the ultimate The Mandalorian toy. If they actually made a floating baby carriage toy with an adorable baby Yoda doll in it, it would probably be the biggest toy of the year.
For Public Use?
The patent is essentially a drone that just looks like Grogu’s baby pram from The Mandalorian. Of course, the patent doesn’t outright say this, but the pictures of the device look exactly like the one seen in the show. And while it would be cool to see this made as a toy, the most likely scenario is that Disney will incorporate this into the Star Wars sections of its Disney parks.
An Upgrade For The Mandalorian Park Performers
Din Djarin and Grogu can be visited in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland and Hollywood Studios. For now, Grogu is carried by Din in a sort of sling bag, but it would undoubtedly be cooler to see him in his iconic floating baby carriage. Unlike the toy idea, it would be a lot easier (and less expensive) to make just a few of these drones for Disney parks.
The New Film
The Mandalorian aired its third season last year, which saw Katee Sackhoff’s Bo-Katan Kryze return in a major way, as did Din Djarin and Grogu’s journey to Mandalore. While a fourth season of the series hasn’t been confirmed, a new film titled The Mandalorian & Grogu was announced that will kick off the new slate of Star Wars films that were announced. Series creator Jon Favreau will direct the film and co-write it with Dave Filoni.
Where Else Will We See Grogu?
We can also likely expect to see Din Djarin and Grogu again on the big screen in the currently untitled Star Wars film that Dave Filoni is directing. That film is said to connect the events of The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and Skeleton Crew. While no characters have been confirmed for the film, it seems inevitable that Mando and Grogu will be a part of it.
The Cutest Little Green Alien
In the meantime, all three seasons of The Mandalorian are currently available to stream on Disney+. You can check out The Mandalorian & Grogu when it hits theaters in 2026. Also, make sure to be on the lookout for any floating baby carriages next time you’re at Disneyland.
