See Glen Powell Get His Start In Underrated Horror Series
There’s no denying that since his appearance in 2022’s blockbuster super-hit, Top Gun: Maverick, Glen Powell’s career has taken off like – well – like jet fuel. One of the hottest actors of the time, the actor recently appeared in the box office-crushing rom-com Anyone But You and, most recently, the highly-anticipated Twisters. But if you want to see Powell in the days just before he would start jogging up the biggest stepping stones on his climb to the top, then look no further than Hulu as the actor’s hit horror comedy series, Scream Queens, is now streaming in its entirety.
Horror, Comedy, Camp, And Glen Powell
From the co-creators of American Horror Story, Scream Queens was the latest production to arrive from Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan. Blending horror with comedy and camp, the series featured an all-star cast that not only saw Glen Powell in a leading role but also included Emma Roberts, Jamie Lee Curtis, Nick Jonas, Keke Palmer, Ariana Grande, Lea Michele, Niecy Nash, Abigail Breslin, and Billie Lourd, who also essentially got her start in Scream Queens with a fun nod to her late mother, Carrie Fisher’s, iconic role as Princess Leia.
Enter The Red Devil
The series picks up its story at Wallace University, a fictional college plagued with a dark past. It’s been 20 years since a tragic event happened at the sorority house of Kappa Kappa Tau (KKT) and now someone dressed as the school’s mascot (a Red Devil) is murdering its current members and new pledges. Emma Roberts stars as the sorority’s leader, Chanel Oberlin, while Glen Powell’s Scream Queens role sees him playing Chanel’s boyfriend and head of KKT’s sweetheart fraternity, Chad Radwell.
Co-Ed Calamity Ensues
Playing with tropes surrounding the collegiate sisterhoods and brotherhoods, the series takes a stab (sometimes literally) at the inner dynamics within the chapter’s houses. For example, Emma Roberts’ character’s name is Chanel but to assert her dominance, she’s also labeled the next few in command, Chanel 2-5. Likewise, Glen Powell is the alpha dog of his fraternity, the Dickie Dollar Scholars and Scream Queens sees his loyal subjects (including Nick Jonas’ Boone Clemens) bend the knee.
Jamie Lee Curtis Brings The Laughs
Along with the top-tier performances from Glen Powell and Emma Roberts as the toxic couple leading the University’s Greek life, Scream Queens also features a laugh-out-loud appearance from Jamie Lee Curtis as the school’s Dean, Cathy Munsch. Dean Munsch deeply despises Chanel and the rest of the sorority, often making her look like the number one suspect in the Red Devil slayings. But as more characters are introduced – each with a reason of their own – Munsch simply fades into the ever-growing number of people who could be behind the mask.
Stream Scream Queens On Hulu
After a mixed-reviewed but overall successful first season, several cast members, including Glen Powell and Jamie Lee Curtis, moved on for a second season of Scream Queens. This time, the plot took place in a hospital where another masked serial killer stalked the premises in what would become the Hulu series’ final installment. Lucky for Glen Powell-obsessed subscribers, both seasons of Scream Queens are now streaming on Hulu or Hulu on Disney+.
