See Giancarlo Esposito Take Over For Patrick Stewart As Professor X
Fan art remarkably imagines Giancarlo Esposito as Marvel's Professor X.
From Breaking Bad to The Mandalorian, Giancarlo Esposito sure knows how to play a bad guy, but recently the actor has put his best foot forward and announced that he’d love to take over the role of notoriously good-guy Professor X. To further bolster the hope of Esposito’s MCU takeover, Instagram artist @clements.ink crafted the perfect image of the actor in the role of the powerful mutant. In the picture, which you can see below, Esposito appears from his shoulders up in front of a black and glowing cobalt blue backdrop.
The imagining of Giancarlo Esposito as Professor X shows the character wearing a skin-tight black shirt. With a smirk on his face, the design is complete with Cerebro. Ready to detect any mutant in sight, Cerebro’s multitude of cords can be seen stemming off to the side.
While Giancarlo Esposito may not be tackling Professor X just yet, the actor is certainly celebrating his long-running role as the notorious Breaking Bad universe bad guy, Gus Fring. Just last night, the actor took home the Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series trophy at the Critics’ Choice Awards for his reprisal of the character during the final season of AMC’s Breaking Bad spinoff, Better Call Saul. He and the rest of the cast have also been nominated for the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series title at the upcoming Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Along with his role on Better Call Saul, the actor has recently appeared in fan-favorite action series, The Boys and The Mandalorian. Most recently, he starred in Netflix’s miniseries Kaleidoscope and is holding down the titular role in AMC’s crime drama, Parish. And, while we may need to wait for further information surrounding Giancarlo Esposito’s fate as Professor X in any upcoming X-Men or Marvel flicks, the actor will be making his way back to the big screen in a big way in 2024 and beyond.
First up, he’ll be seen in the Anthony and Joe Russo sci-fi adventure feature The Electric State. As always, the Russos have absolutely stacked the cast for their latest movie, which will also include Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy franchise), Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once), and Stanley Tucci (The Terminal), just to name a few. With the Russo brothers having such a heavy pull in the Marvel universe, could his connection with them be Giancarlo Esposito’s ticket to claim the role of Professor X?
The actor will also appear in James Franco’s indie drama The Long Home and Francis Ford Coppola’s star-studded sci-fi drama, Megalopolis, which will also feature the likes of Adam Driver, Forest Whitaker, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Aubrey Plaza. If Giancarlo Esposito were to sit in the chair of Professor X, he’d be taking over for its most recent occupant, Sir Patrick Stewart. Although it’s been a while since we’ve seen the English actor in the role of the revered mutant, he did make a cameo in last year’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
