Ghost Of Tsushima Movie Gets A Depressing Update
The Ghost of Tsushima movie is moving along slowly, according to the director, Chad Stahelski
In a recent interview with Total Film (Via Comic Book), director Chad Stahelski shared some disappointing news about the production process of the upcoming Ghost of Tsushima movie. Stahelski stated, “It’s just about getting all the business end of things locked in. It’s kind of in that little bit of flux where everybody is trying to tighten up the deal to get everything going and to make sure we do the best with it.”
It’s a simple thing: getting a great script and starting to put together a cast. It just takes a lot of moving parts,” Stahelski added.
It seems like Ghost of Tsushima is in the works, but things aren’t moving as quickly as some fans would like. The film was first announced in 2021 and would be an adaptation of the 2020 Playstation 4 video game of the same name. One of the few updates that fans have gotten is the addition of screenwriter Takashi Doscher.
Still, Stahelski seems positive about his interest in directing the film. “Ghost of Tsushima would be my favorite to do next. Without going into crazy detail, it’s something I’m super interested in,” the director said.
Stahelski also seemed excited about some of the most important aspects of Ghost of Tsushima’s upcoming production. Stahelski noted that “We have a really great script. We have a really good creative team behind it.” It seems that despite a slow-moving and uncertain release timetable, the film has some promise.
Chad Stahelksi is an American film director and stuntman. He is known for directing the action thriller John Wick, which stars Keanu Reeves as the titular Wick and features crisp fight choreography. He served as the director for subsequent releases in the franchise as well.
Stahelski also had a critical role in the production of the classic film, The Crow. Originally, Stahelski worked as a stunt double for Brandon Lee. When Brandon Lee died from an accident on set, Stahelksi and Jeff Cadiente served as stand-ins for the deceased actor and used CGI to give them his face.
Ghost of Tsushima is an action-adventure game developed by the video game studio Sucker Punch. Its developers were deeply influenced by samurai cinema and comic book iconography, which is reflected in the art style of the game. It was released to critical and commercial acclaim in 2020, including being nominated for Game of the Year in 2020.
The game garnered fans’ attention and praise for its gorgeous graphics and its tight combat system. Ghost of Tsushima employs an open world for players to explore Tsushima Island. During combat sequences, players can either choose to fight their enemies straight on or use stealth-based tactics to evade the enemy’s attention.
Players control a samurai named, Jin Sakai. During an invasion of Tsushima Island, Jin is badly wounded and left for dead in a costly battle that leaves the island’s defense forces in shambles. Jin must choose between fighting in the honorable way that he was trained, or using all of the tools and dishonorable skills he has in his possession in order to protect the people of the island.
With a compelling plot and a director known for his intense action sequences, Ghost of Tsushima seems to have many factors that could make it a successful adaptation of the video game. Still, It seems like fans have some time before more news about the film hits. For now, they can revisit Ghost of Tsushima or the multiplayer Ghost of Tsushima: Legends on PS4 and PS5.
