George Clooney’s Star-Studded, Franchise Remake Is Now Streaming
Looking for an action-packed, star-studded movie to fill your free time? Ocean’s Eleven is the flick that delivers. Whether you’ve never seen it, or it’s something you’ve seen a dozen times, George Clooney’s impressive performance will consistently keep you entertained.
Ocean’s Eleven, the star-studded George Clooney remake of the Frank Sinatra original, is now streaming on Max.
Movie-goers can expect a tantalizing time filled with suspense, action, comedy, and even a little light romance. Starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, Andy Garcia, and the late Bernie Mac, Ocean’s Eleven is a fantastic remake of the original film which debuted in 1960.
Though the original movie may not have carried the same appeal as the remake, the cast of the movie was just as lustrous. The 1960 version of Ocean’s Eleven starred Rat Pack legends like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford, and Angie Dickinson. It seemed only right that Clooney would keep the pace when starring in his version of the movie in 2001.
The remake of Ocean’s Eleven was released in December of 2001 by Warner Bros. Pictures, and the film grossed more than $450 million at the box office worldwide. It made it to number five on the highest-grossing movies of the year.
The movie was so successful, in fact, that Steven Soderbergh (the director of the film) went on to direct two more movies in the trilogy, Ocean’s Twelve (2004) and Ocean’s Thirteen (2007). Ocean’s Twelve grossed more than $360 million worldwide, and Ocean’s Thirteen raked in more than $311 million around the world.
Witness the wily ways of George Clooney and his motley crew in this immensely entertaining onslaught of debauchery and style.
Ocean’s Eight was released much later in 2018 as an added spinoff movie with an all-female leading cast, directed by Gary Ross. However, George Clooney does make an appearance in the female-led film. It grossed nearly $300 million worldwide. Certainly not a total Danny Ocean would shake a fist at if proposed.
If you’re not yet wise to the ways of Danny Ocean’s (George Clooney’s character) criminal mastermind, allow for a quick explanation of the film. Ocean’s Eleven begins with Danny being released from prison and immediately breaking the terms of his parole for a trip to Las Vegas, where he meets up with his friend and partner in crime, Rusty Ryan (played by Brad Pitt).
The two form an ultimate plan to simultaneously rob three prominent casinos in the area: the Bellagio, the Mirage, and the MGM Grand.
They present their plan to a wealthy casino owner, Reuben Tishkoff (played by Elliott Gould), and he reluctantly agrees to finance the operation as an opportunity to exact revenge on one of his rivals, Terry Benedict (played by Andy Garcia). Benedict just so happens to be the owner of all three of the casinos in Ocean’s sights.
Due to an upcoming boxing event, the team knows that all three casinos will be well-stocked with cash to cover all of their patron’s bets. This is the night they plan to strike. The Bellagio alone is set to have more than $150 million on hand, and Ocean’s team is ready to snag it all.
There’s been no word on if George Clooney will return as Danny Ocean, especially since no one believes he’s really dead in Ocean’s Eight.
Danny and Rusty proceed to form a team of hotshot criminal specialists to get the job done right, and Ocean’s famed eleven are off to the races. Though doubt is cast among the team of criminals when they discover that their target’s girlfriend is none other than Danny Ocean’s ex-wife Tess (played by Julia Roberts), they find a way to circumvent her inside knowledge of her delinquent ex-lover nonetheless.
Witness the wily ways of George Clooney and his motley crew in this immensely entertaining onslaught of debauchery and style. Even today, Ocean’s Eleven has a solid 83 percent fresh rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, along with an equally good 80 percent audience score (from over 250,000 responders).
The well-received remake has certainly made its mark on movie critics over the years and remains on the watchlist of thousands. George Clooney and the rest of the star-studded cast of this iconic heist movie will not leave you disappointed.
