General Hospital Icon Leaves Series, Stars React
Michael Easton recently announced that he would be ending his over 10-year stint on the popular soap General Hospital, and many fans and stars took to social media to express their love and admiration for the actor. Jophielle Love, who plays his on-screen daughter, was quick to express how much she’ll miss the actor, saying, “There are no words,” with plenty of crying and heart emojis.
Nancy Lee Grahn, who played a friend a former flame of Easton’s Finn, said, “The class, grace and elegance in which you just did that is why I will miss you every working day.”
Michael Easton Says Goodbye
Finola Hughes, who played another lover of Finn’s, expressed how much she loved her storyline with Michael Easton on General Hospital, saying, “You are a stellar person, a wonderful actor and I had the most fun and unique storyline with you and loved every moment.”
Maura West, who acted mostly alongside Easton when he played Silas Clay, said, “MEastie, I am so grateful I had the opportunity to work with you … you are just an exceptional person… as an actor, author, poet, friend.” Of course, Easton, ever the professional, replied to each and every one of his co-stars with stories, sediments, and compliments of his own.
Over A Decade And Three Characters Later
Michael Easton first joined General Hospital in 2012 and played three different characters over the years, including John McBain, Silas Clay, and, most recently, Dr. Hamilton Finn. In Finn’s current (and apparently final) storyline, he relapsed and left Port Charles to go back into rehab. Easton himself did express a little bit of disappointment in the rushed nature of his storyline, saying, “From an acting standpoint, I would have liked to have just brought a little more subtlety and nuance to it.”
Exit, Stage Left
Of course, rehab isn’t forever, so many fans were quick to assume that Michael Easton might return to General Hospital after Finn finishes his three-month treatment. However, Easton said he felt there’s a “finality” to his exit, so it appears he’s saying goodbye permanently for now. Perhaps there could be a guest appearance in the cards for the near future, but Easton appears to be ready to move on.
An Outpouring Of Love On Social Media
Along with all of his co-stars taking to social media to say goodbye and praise him, Michael Easton has been on a bit of a General Hospital farewell tour himself. He recently made an Instagram post about his romantic interests in the series, posting scenes between him and Finola Hughes, Rebecca Hurst, and Rebecca Budig in a tribute video. He also made extensive posts about what he admired about each and how much he loved working with them.
General Hospital Keeps Rolling On
Clearly, Michael Easton has a lot of love for his General Hospital co-stars, and all the social media posts about his exit prove they feel the same way. Fans will also surely miss Easton’s presence as Dr. Finn, but it seems like this is the way the actor wants to go for now. Being on any project for more than 10 years is a long time, so it seems like Easton is ready and willing to take on some new acting challenges.
Michael Easton’s exit from the General Hospital soap opera is still fresh, as his final episode was on June 27. There’s probably going to be plenty more outpourings of love and trips down memory lanes with his co-stars on social media. In the meantime, you can catch the next episode of General Hospital on July 8.
