Game Of Thrones Creator Has A Brand New TV Series
A brand new television series has just been announced from Game of Thrones creator.

Fans of George R. R. Martin have a tough relationship with the author. On one hand, they love his work. On the other hand, they hate that there isn’t more of it. Now, he’s creating a lot more work, but he’s doing it for television. He already has an eight-figure deal with HBO, that has him working on multiple new series of the coming years. Now, the Game of Thrones author has signed on as an executive producer for Dark Winds, a new series for AMC. While some fans are excited to see him involved in more projects, it’s also disheartening for those who want to believe that the final A Song of Fire and Ice novel will ever release.
Dark Winds doesn’t currently see him writing, though other projects do. This isn’t the only area that makes Dark Winds different for the author. A lot of George R.R. Martin’s television projects right now are fantasy-based, like Game of Thrones. Dark Winds is a psychological thriller. The series will take place in the 1970s in the American southwest. The story centers on two Navajo police officers solving a terrible murder and facing elements from their own pasts as they do so. The series will star Zahn McClarnon. Robert Redford is also among the list of producers.
While Game of Thrones is off the air for HBO, the final book in the series has yet to be released. The novel is said to be titled Winds of Winter. While some hoped that it would be released in 2021, mostly fans have suggested that the only course is to wait patiently and not set a date for expectations, because all past suggested dates have come and gone without a book releasing. Clearly, the issue isn’t a lack of time. George R.R. Martin keeps signing on for new projects, so he has time. He seems to be needing more time to finish the last novel in his most celebrated series. Between the television show, and fans messaging him for more, the situation surrounding the fantasy novels may have scared him away from knowing how to finish the project.
Meanwhile, he’s working on multiple series for HBO that takes place in the Game of Thrones universe. This is interesting since actors from the original series like Emilia Clarke are still asked about the much-hated finale of the original series. Despite this, HBO has been happy to move forward on multiple fronts. Possibly because fans of the series haven’t written it off entirely, and also because George R.R. Martin wasn’t running the show.
Now, Martin is more involved with these new series. One, called 10,000 Ships, will focus on Princess Nymeria and takes place 1,000 years before Game of Thrones. At this point, most of what we know about this series is that it’s been announced. Meanwhile, House of the Dragon, starring actors like Matt Smith, has been filming. This is also a Game of Thrones prequel series, but takes place only 300 years before Game of Thrones and follows the House Targaryen. While these new projects are exciting for fans of Martin’s television work, hopefully, fans of his novels won’t be too upset to see he’s signed on for another responsibility producing another series while Winds of Winter is still waiting in limbo.
