Gal Gadot Says Red Notice 2 Is Still Being Made At Netflix
Gal Gadot says that Red Notice 2 is still on the way, and that it will be delivered on Netflix's streaming platform.
Fans of Gal Gadot likely enjoyed seeing her in The Flash, which is possibly the last time we’ll see her suit up in her iconic Wonder Woman outfit. She may not be appearing in James Gunn’s brand-new DCU, but the actor is quick to assure her fans that at least one of her franchises is alive and well. Recently, Gal Gadot told Collider that Netflix is still committed to making Red Notice 2, noting that “I already read the second script and… we’re all very excited about it!”
Why, though, would Gal Gadot need to confirm that Netflix is still working on a sequel the streaming platform announced at the beginning of 2022? In short, Netflix and the entire entertainment world are very different now than even a year and a half ago.
In addition to an industry-crippling writer’s strike, Netflix had to deal with a reduction in subscribers for the first time, and their infamous reaction was to cut down on the password-sharing they once encouraged.
On top of that, even though Netflix hasn’t been gutting projects left and right like Max has, the streamer has long held a reputation for canceling shows and movies that fans were looking forward to.
And thanks to its fun writing as well as its killer cast (Gal Gadot is joined by both Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds), fans really were stoked about Red Notice 2. Therefore, Gadot’s words are reassuring, but it’s important to remember that this sequel could potentially fall through for multiple reasons.
For example, all Gadot really confirmed was that she and the production crew are “excited” for the script and that “we’re all talking about it.” In the same breath, she pointed out that “I don’t know if I can say anything,” which could indicate anything from a strict NDA to the fact that she has no idea when shooting will begin.
And even if Gal Gadot is personally hyped for making Red Notice 2, the fact that a writers’ strike is happening and an actor’s strike is still a possibility may cool the jets on this particular production.
Nonetheless, both Gal Gadot and Netflix have a vested interest in making Red Notice 2 as soon as they can. The original film was Netflix’s most highly-watched content the day it dropped, and it ended up being in the Top 10 for a whopping 94 different countries.
Since Gal Gadot needs a new successful franchise and Netflix needs to win back both subscriber and investor confidence, we think they’ll make this movie as soon as humanly possible. With any luck, Netflix will release further details soon, and we can collectively look forward to seeing what Gal Gadot, Dwayne Johnson, and Ryan Reynolds get up to in Red Notice 2.
With the box office failures of The Flash and Black Adam, two of that trio could really use a hit right now. And with Deadpool 3 around the corner and needing to win fans over, we’re sure Reynolds will join them in giving Red Notice 2 the “maximum effort” that it deserves.
