Gal Gadot Making A Mr. & Mrs. Smith Style Heist Movie
Gal Gadot has another action movie in the works.

Gal Gadot continues to be one of the hottest commodities in the world of Hollywood actors today. In addition to being established as DC’s Wonder Woman with another sequel on the way, the actress is also attached to a new big-budget version of Cleopatra and will be starring alongside Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds in Netflix’s blockbuster action film Red Notice later this year. There does not look to be any stopping her total domination of the acting landscape. And thanks to some new information we have obtained here at Giant Freakin Robot, there is yet another project that is currently on her plate.
According to our trusted inside source – the same one that gave us our confirmed exclusive scoops about Don Cheadle appearing as War Machine in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Josh Brolin returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Thanos in Eternals – Gal Gadot is in talks for the lead role in The Engagement, a Mr. and Mrs. Smith type caper film where two cons decide to stage an elaborate fake wedding for themselves so that they can pilfer a priceless jewel from a museum. These two characters meet in jail but are swept up into the jewel robbery in order to appease a police officer that sets up the heist. Naturally, these two thieves start as uneasy allies but will end up falling in love during the operation.
It certainly sounds like the kind of fluffy and fun kind of movie that Gal Gadot would do well in. She has a genuine talent for comedy but has not really gotten a lot of opportunities to display that. The Engagement definitely looks to be a more comedic and lighthearted piece of mainstream entertainment than some of the more serious roles the actress has lined up for the future. However, a lot of this premise looks like it would hinge on the chemistry between the two leads. As of now, it does not seem that a male lead has been cast. It should also be said that Gadot herself has not yet signed on the dotted line. Once she does, you can bet the studio will put out an official announcement. Nabbing an actress of her stature is a surefire way to get your movie on the fast track.
One does have to wonder how much Gal Gadot can load up on her plate before some projects end up on the backburner or discarded entirely. With Wonder Woman 3 and a possible follow-up to Justice League in the works, those projects alone will take up a considerable amount of her time. Then you put her Cleopatra film on top of that and you can bet her schedule is starting to look tight. There is also the espionage thriller Heart of Stone in her future which could be her attempt at yeat another action franchise. that is a whole lot of work ahead of her. Could she be a little too busy for The Engagement? Or is it a different speed than her other future projects and that alone is alluring enough for her to attach herself as the lead?
If Gal Gadot does end up taking the lead role in The Engagement, it would be interesting to think about who her male co-star would be. Could it be someone she has worked with in the past? How wild would it be to see her and Chris Pine together again in a nin-Wonder Woman movie? Or perhaps she enjoyed working with Ryan Reynolds enough on Red Notice that they decide to team up again. There are so many possible options for a returning male co-star that could make audiences even more interested in the film.
We will get to see Gal Gadot next in Zack Snyder’s Justice League: Director’s Cut when it releases on HBO Max on March 18. After that, we will hopefully finally get a release for Death on the Nile, the sequel to Murder on the Orient Express. Regardless of what happens with The Engagement, there is no debating that we are going to be seeing a lot of Gal Gadot over the next few years. As fans of Wonder Woman 1984 (read our 5-star review), we could not be more excited.
