Frankie Muniz Has A Crazy New Career, And It’s Not Acting
Frankie Muniz is now going to be a professional racecar driver.
You may know Frankie Muniz best as the titular character in Malcolm in the Middle, but he has taken his career in an entirely new direction. Deadline reported that Muniz will be racing full-time for Rette Jones Racing in the ARCA Menards Series. Muniz will be driving the team’s No. 30 Ford Mustang.
This is far from Frankie Muniz’s first venture into the world of racing. The actor started his affair with racing back in 2001 when he drove a pace car for the Daytona 500. His racing career then began in 2004 when he entered as a celebrity participant in the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race, finishing in seventh place.
Frankie Muniz participated in numerous races from 2004 to 2007 before moving up to the Champ Car Atlantic Series, where he competed for an entire season of 12 races. In the late 2000s, he raced for Pacific Coast Motorsports and Team Stargate Worlds. Muniz would eventually make his stock car racing debut in 2021, competing in the SRL Pro Late Model Series and driving for High Point Racing.
Frankie Muniz has had some notable successes in his burgeoning racing career. He has previously placed third in the Toyota celebrity race. He also finished in the top ten of every race he competed in during his 2009 season with Team Stargate Worlds with a best finish of fourth.
Frankie Muniz was a part of ARCA’s 2022 test at Daytona, and now he’ll compete in over 20 races for the 2023 season. The first race is set for February 18 at Daytona International Speedway. The race takes place the day before the Daytona 500. Muniz has had previous success in lower-tier racing leagues, and during his Toyota celebrity race appearances, so it’ll be interesting to see how he fares in the ARCA season.
Frankie Muniz sustained back, hand, and rib injuries during a previous racing crash, causing him to take a hiatus from his racing career. The ARCA series will bring Muniz back into a full-time racing career. According to Deadline, the ARCA series is ranked below the NASCAR’s Cup Series, Xfinity Series, and Truck Series and primarily features new teenage drivers starting their careers in NASCAR and veterans who are racing for fun.
Frankie Muniz has taken a pretty big step back from acting since his child star years, with his most recent film role being in 2018 with The Black String. However, Muniz has appeared in a few small TV roles since then, including appearances on HBO’s Harley Quinn, ABC’s The Rookie, and NBC’s New Amsterdam. Reportedly, Muniz will also make an appearance in the upcoming Half Baked sequel.
Frankie Muniz is best known for his role in Malcolm in the Middle, which earned him an Emmy nomination and two Golden Globe nominations. He also appeared in numerous popular films in the early 2000s such as Big Fat Liar, Agent Cody Banks, and Deuces Wild. Muniz also appeared on Dancing with the Stars in 2017 and ended up taking third place in the contest.
