Sci-Fi Thriller Game Fort Solis Getting Film And TV Adaptations
It’s official! Fort Solis is getting its own movie/television series. Studios Extraordinaires and the game’s developer Fallen Leaf publicly announced that the TV and film adaptations of Fort Solis will tell of an “entirely fresh encounter,” casting some shadows on who might be the star of the on-screen adaptation.
If you’re unfamiliar with the game, Fort Solis was released in August 2023 on PC and PlayStation 5. It is a psychological sci-fi thriller/horror game that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat during gameplay.
Fort Solis centers around the experience of the character Jack Leary, who is voiced by Roger Clark (best known for his work on Red Dead Redemption 2). In the game, you play as Jack, an engineer who is suddenly thrust into an emergency situation on an isolated Martian mining base. As the game progresses, various elements of the situation begin to unravel to unfold the mystery of what happened to the rest of the base’s crew.
Fort Solis also features Troy Baker as the lead officer of Fort Solis, Wyatt Taylor. Baker is well known for his work in the award-winning game The Last of Us.
Julia Brown voices the character Jessica Appleton, who is a coworker of Jack’s at a human colony on Mars called Fort Minor. Brown is best known for her work in World on Fire and The Last Kingdom.
So far, there aren’t many details available about who will play what role in the film/TV adaptation of Fort Solis, so it’s not clear whether or not Roger Clark, Troy Baker, or Julia Brown will take part in the project.
The co-founders of Studios Extraordinaires, Andre Hedetoft and Andreas Troedsson, spoke of the popular game, saying it is “clever science-fiction tethering on the brink of science-fact that will stay with you long after you step away from the screen.” On-screen, the co-founders hope to recreate the depth and emotion of the game while bringing the “thrilling backdrop of the Martian frontier” to life.
The deal making the film and television production of Fort Solis possible signifies something much bigger for the future. It marks the beginning of a journey that could open doors for further exploration of the universe the game created. In other words, this could be the start of a beautiful relationship between Studios Extraordinaires and Fallen Leaf.
That is … if they pull it off. One thing is for certain: There are plenty of fans of the Fort Solis game sitting by and waiting to see what they do with it on camera. What will come of the visual adaptation of the game so many players have grown to love?
As there is no information yet on the table concerning a release date or even which medium will win the day (film or television), intrigued fans of Fort Solis will have to keep a watchful eye on GFR for future updates on the situation.
