Florence Pugh was on a promotional tour for her new film, The Wonder in Dublin this week. The actress attended the Irish premiere, held at the Light House Cinema, in a stunning white crop top and flowing skirt. The 26-year-old exuded elegance as she walked the red carpet in the outfit from Erdem’s 2023 Spring/Summer 2023 collection and she accessorized her look with sparkling jewelry and later shared a few snaps from the event on Instagram.
“What an insane zip to Dublin and back that was,” Florence Pugh captioned the post. “The Wonder had its Irish premiere with so much support and love pouring down the street! Thank you so much, to all those who had waited. Arriving with such a welcome was so kind,” she continued.
The actress ended her post by asking folks to see the movie when it arrives in theaters next month. The Wonder is a period drama directed by Sebastián Lelio from a screenplay he co-wrote with Emma Donoghue and Alice Birch. The plot is based on Donaghue’s 2016 novel of the same name and features a stellar cast.
Starring alongside Florence Pugh is Tom Burke, Niamh Algar, Josie Walker, Elaine Cassidy, Kíla Lord Cassidy, Toby Jones, Dermot Crowley, Brían F. O’Byrne, and Ciarán Hinds. Set just after the Great Famine in 1862, the story follows an English Nightingale Nurse named Lib Wright (Florence Pugh), who is called to a small Irish community to examine an 11-year-old girl. Anna says she hasn’t eaten in four months with no ill effects.
While her parents believe she is surviving on “manna from heaven” and want to ensure her safety. At the same time, the tiny community and its elders want to know if Anna is a bona fide Christian miracle. However, Lib (Florence Pugh) is skeptical of supernatural intervention and only wants to help the child as her health visibly starts to deteriorate and she runs up against some residents who distrust her medical expertise.
Following its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival, The Wonder holds an 84% approval rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. Several reviews describe the Florence Pugh starrer as slightly underwhelming but praised the direction, cast performances, cinematography, and score. The movie will be released in theaters on November 2nd before it hits Netflix on November 16th.
Unfortunately, The Wonder’s Irish premiere comes amid reports that the actress and Harry Styles shared an off-screen kiss on the set of Don’t Worry Darling. This would be just weeks before the One Direction star began a relationship with Olivia Wilde, who directed the film. The beleaguered movie, in which Styles and Pugh play a married couple, has been overshadowed by a series of controversies before and after its awkward premiere at the Venice Film Festival.
During the September event, Florence Pugh made headlines for failing to acknowledge Wilde on the red carpet following an on-set dispute. It was allegedly parked by the Marvel alum’s discomfort at her director embarking on a very public relationship with the singer while working on the movie in Los Angeles. Sources told The Sun, their fall-out stems from instant initial chemistry shared by Pugh and Styles before he became romantically involved with Wilde.
