Marvel has seen some exciting releases in 2021, including Black Widow and the new Disney+ series, Hawkeye. Both projects featured Florence Pugh. The actress has established herself as Yelena Belova in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, everyone wants to know what’s next. During a recent interview with Collider, Hawkeye director Rhys Thomas was asked about the possibility of Hawkeye season 2. So far, nothing has been confirmed. The director shied away from spilling Marvel secrets. However, he did share that a Hawkeye spinoff starring Florence Pugh and Hailee Steinfeld would “write itself”.
The Hawkeye director isn’t the only one discussing a spinoff project with Florence Pugh and Hailee Steinfeld. As the first season of the series came to a close, fans and people involved with the series were soon pointing out the chemistry between the two stars and the potential for future projects. Hailee Steinfeld, who plays Kate Bishop, has done interviews saying that she hopes her character teams up with Florence Pugh’s again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Articles have been popping up online with many speculating on what could be next for Yelena Belova. The character is sarcastic, interesting, can be counted on for providing great banter. After seeing her bond with Kate Bishop, the possibility of a Hawkeye spinoff seems like the natural next step, and apparently, the show’s director sees it as well.
A new spinoff starring Florence Pugh and Hailee Steinfeld seems obvious after fan reactions. Hopefully, it’s something that Disney+ already saw, and it’s quietly in the works. It’s hard to believe that Florence Pugh currently isn’t signed on for any future Marvel projects, but currently, her MCU slate remains blank.
Meanwhile, even though Hawkeye season one has only just aired, a different spinoff project has been in the works since early on. Echo will star Maya Lopez, a character played by Alaqua Cox in the recently released series. It would seem like a natural project for Florence Pugh and/or Hailee Steinfeld to appear on. While some outlets have reported rumors of their appearances, no official confirmation has been announced of either actress working on the new Hawkeye spinoff series.
While no one knows what’s next for Florence Pugh in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the actress is staying extremely busy. In 2021, she completed filming on Don’t Worry Darling. She stars in the thriller opposite the Marvel newcomer, Harry Styles. The movie is the second film by director Olivia Wilde.
Upcoming, Florence Pugh has just recently signed on to join Robert Downey Jr. in Oppenheimer, a movie by director Christopher Nolan. The cast list for the project has quickly become impressive with names like Rami Malek, Cillian Murphy, Matt Damon, and Emily Blunt.
While the actress isn’t sharing much about her future with Marvel, she is sharing fun updates about her personal life as the year comes to a close. She recently cut off the long hair Yelena is known for and has been showing off her new, short haircut. She also pierced her nose, an experience she says left her feeling faint.
