With all of the shakeups happening at Warner Bros and DC right now, many have been questioning the fate of The Flash and whether this movie would ever see the light of day when it was all said and done. After all, the movie’s star, Ezra Miller, has been embroiled in controversy for the better part of this year with some high-profile incidents including a recent felony charge. Was the movie going to be able to proceed even with uncertainty around Miller’s legal standing or his actual frame of mind? Well, it looks like we have something of an answer on that front with recent word that not only is the movie still going full steam ahead but that Ezra Miller has actually been involved in filming and photography over the course of this summer. That would suggest DC’s plan is to keep the movie on schedule.

This reporting comes from The Hollywood Reporter who did a deeper dive on the workings and machinations happening within Warner Bros and DC right, how they’ve been shuffling the deck in a pretty major way. Among the pieces in that report was that Ezra Miller had participated in “regularly scheduled additional photography over the summer” and that things had gone well on that front. Additionally, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav had reiterated on an earnings call that he’d seen screenings of The Flash and the studio was impressed with the results. There’s also word the film has tested well with initial audiences. With Ezra Miller now still taking part in the production in recent months, it would appear there is little to worry about when it comes to the film releasing next summer.

Of course, the reason for concern around The Flash is that Ezra Miller has been steeped in allegations and incidents over the better part of the last year. He was involved in a couple of different police-related matters in Hawaii, one involving him getting involved in a bar dust-up and the other with him allegedly threatening violence against a couple he had been staying with. There were also claims that he was housing a woman and her children in his home, a place that had firearms on the premises and might not have been suitable for kids.

And then, most recently, Ezra Miller was charged with a felony in Vermont after police allege he entered a home to steal bottles of alcohol from the premises. He is set for a court date in September and there is a possibility of jail time if found guilty. All of these incidents seemed to wrap into a picture that left the future of The Flash in doubt. But considering a majority of the movie is already filmed and appears to be solid in the eyes of fans, it looks like we will see it on the big screen next summer. The Flash is set to release on June 23, 2023, and despite the controversies will almost assuredly be a blockbuster of the highest order.
