The Exorcist Reboot Needs These Mike Flanagan Actors

By Britta DeVore | Updated

If there’s one thing Mike Flanagan is known for, it’s being consistent. The filmmaker is particularly consistent with two things – scaring the absolute crap out of us with every project he drops and bringing in longtime collaborators to fill out his call sheet. Now that the Hush and The Haunting of Hill House helmer is officially backing the Exorcist reboot, we can begin speculating and dreaming of which stars he’ll be calling up.

Kate Siegel

At the top of our list, we’d wager a guess that Flanagan will look no further than in his own home for one of The Exorcist reboot actors, as his incredibly talented wife, Kate Siegel, has worked with her hubby on a slew of projects in the past.

Offering nothing but dynamite performances in whatever she appears in, Siegel would be a welcomed addition from the so-called Flanafam to help restore the beloved horror franchise to its former glory.

Rahul Kohli

Over the course of his time with Netflix, Flanagan delighted audiences with titles including The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, The Midnight Club, and The Fall of the House of Usher.

Jumping in for the second title was Rahul Kohli who we love and would be thrilled to see land a spot on The Exorcist reboot alongside its other actors. Kohli’s talent has seen him play a multitude of personalities in all of his Flanagan-based productions so why not add priest or possessed man to his list of credits?

Carla Gugino

Also included in our hopeful running of The Exorcist reboot actors is Carla Gugino, who joined Flanagan and the rest of the team on the director’s first dip into the mixed bag of Netflix with The Haunting of Hill House.

Most recently appearing in Lisa Frankenstein, Gugino took on one of the biggest parts in the Flanaverse in last year’s The Fall of the House of Usher, playing fate herself – Verna. With scores and scores of movies and TV appearances under her belt, Gugino would weave perfectly into the cast of the possession flick.

The Doctor Sleep Cast

Stepping outside of Flanagan’s work with Netflix, we’d like to turn your attention to his previous film, Doctor Sleep, as well as his upcoming project, The Life of Chuck. Away from his collaborative circle, Doctor Sleep featured leading performances from Star Wars alum Ewan McGregor as well as Dune franchise star Rebecca Ferguson. Meanwhile, we could also see The Exorcist reboot include the talent Tom Hiddleston (Loki) and Matthew Lillard (Scream), both of whom will appear in Flanagan’s upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s The Life of Chuck.

Take Your Pick

Essentially, what we’re getting at here is that there are no wrong answers when it comes to who Mike Flanagan and his creative team will announce as The Exorcist reboot’s actors.

Having meticulously and perfectly built entire horror universes through his perfect selection of talent in the past, we put our full trust in Flanagan to bring in nothing but the best and most talented performers out there for his fresh and likely unforgettable spin on the beloved demonically possessed franchise.
