Sydney Sweeney has been having a meteoric rise to superstardom. The young actress had a breakout role in Euphoria, which then led to being cast in The White Lotus. Both those shows are massively popular on HBO. From there, she has been cast in the new Sony-built Spider-Man universe, as she is currently cast in a secret role for the Madame Web film. The consensus is that she is either going to be Spider-Gwen, Spider-Woman, or possibly Black Cat. Either of those characters would be fantastic. Well, through our trusted and proven sources, we can report that Sydney Sweeney is being eyed for a role in a new Star Trek film. Seems the actress is going to be covering all the bases of pop culture.
Although Sydney Sweeney is being targeted for Star Trek, we must wonder what film she could be appearing in. The idea would be that the newest Star Trek film would be the one that could be targeting Sweeney, which is Star Trek 4. This would be the sequel film to the Chris Pine-led universe that has been on pause for quite some time. The last film in the reboot franchise was Star Trek Beyond, which came out in 2016. Since then, there have been several versions of the film that have tried to get off the ground, though nothing has stuck quite yet. However, Paramount has announced the film is targeting a December 2023 release window. The unfortunate news is that Matt Shakman was set to direct the new sequel, but has since left to focus on the Fantastic Four reboot instead.
As previously mentioned, Madame Web is currently being worked on, with Sweeney in a secretive role. That film is set to premiere on October 6, 2023. Apart from that, there don’t seem to be any other major roles for Sweeney currently. That could mean that Star Trek and Syndey Sweeney are a real possibility, especially for Star Trek 4 to be released in December. With Madame Web likely to wrap filming sometime quite soon, Sweeney could pivot and join the cast of the long-awaited sci-fi reboot sequel. The timing is quite perfect, though a new director must be found soon.
Star Trek 4 is meant to bring back Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, John Cho, and Simon Pegg. We are not sure how Sydney Sweeney will fit into the Star Trek universe, but she will be surely welcomed. A crazy idea would be to bring J.J. Abrams back into the directing chair, as he handled that duty for the first two reboot films. Bad Robot, Abrams company, is also producing the film alongside Paramount. Abrams is a busy man, but he could be convinced to return. At least, that is what many are likely hoping for.
Star Trek 4 could be bringing Sydney Sweeney aboard, and that announcement would be welcomed, as she has shown herself to be a fantastic actress. For now, we will have to see who the new director is, and that might be coupled with the announcement of bringing on Sweeney. The film might need to be delayed, but we would be happy to wait if both the previously mentioned announcements happen soon.
