Now that Marvel is deep in its multiverse saga, there have been rumblings about characters from the past, characters have died, and new characters being introduced into many of the shows and movies. Now, through our trusted and proven sources, we can report that Scarlett Johansson is going to return as Black Widow in Avengers: Secret Wars. While some people might be confused about this, considering she gave her life to stop Thanos, a new timeline version of the character might be popping up to help stop Kang and whatever big baddie Marvel is going to be bringing in by then.
Scarlett Johansson being brought back as Black Widow in Secret Wars could also make things difficult for Clint Barton aka Hawkeye. Barton and Natasha Romanoff had a special relationship with one another, and he might not be able to handle seeing her again knowing that she gave her life to help the good of the group and the world. Also, Natasha’s sister, Yelena Belova, might also have a hard time seeing a different timeline version of her sister.
Scarlett Johannson is likely to join many returning Marvel characters in Secret Wars. The rumors are that Avengers: Secret Wars is going to follow the arc written in 2015 by Johnathan Hickman. In this story, the Marvel universe is going to be destroyed, so all timelines and worlds join together on Battleworld. Battleworld naturally has many timeline versions of every character trying to stop Doctor Doom, who is now God Emperor Doom.
There have been strong rumors that Doctor Doom is going to be brought in as the one in charge or pulling the strings behind Kang, which would make complete sense. Seeing Scarlett Johansson return in Secret Wars just means another timeline version of her might want to join the Avengers to stop the multiverse from being destroyed. Her timeline could also be vastly different in that Barton and her sister could be the ones dead, so she would want to join them in the fight to save the world.
Scarlett Johansson’s return in Avengers: Secret Wars adds her to the growing list of rumored returning characters. We have reported that Ian McKellen as Magneto, Wesley Snipes as Blade, Nicolas Cage as Ghost Rider, Chris Evans as Captain America, and Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson are all possible appearances that are going to happen in this clearly the most ambitious Marvel outing. We would imagine that the MCU is going to go all out to bring together decades of movies in one, and that means bringing back some fan-favorite characters, even for small cameos.
Scarlett Johansson in Secret Wars might be far more than a simple cameo though, as she was one of the cornerstone characters for the first saga of MCU movies. We would imagine that she is going to have a more expanded role and join up with whatever Avengers team is going to be composed of the remaining legacy characters and new additions. It is going to be quite exciting to see all these characters return in the MCU, if only for one final time.
