Exclusive: Michael B. Jordan To Star In Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six
Michael Jordan is in talks to star in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six.
Update: This Giant Freakin Robot exclusive was confirmed, and Michael B. Jordan is said to be starring in a Rainbox Six adaptation.
Michael B. Jordan is one of the hottest actors in all of Hollywood today. He has established himself as a powerhouse actor with career-defining roles in movies like Creed and Black Panther. He has an undeniable screen presence that continues to make him a magnetic performer in any project he finds himself attached to. Fans are always eager to see what new film he will be a part of, and we have obtained some exclusive information about one of his next projects.
According to our trusted inside source – the same one that gave us our confirmed exclusive scoops about Don Cheadle appearing as War Machine in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Josh Brolin returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Thanos – Michael B. Jordan is in talks to star in a film adaptation of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six. The reason for this is because the actor has already completed filming on another Tom Clancy adaptation, Without Remorse, and will star as the character of John Kelly a.k.a. John Clark. It’s this character that goes on to be the key figure in Rainbow Six, so there is a very strong possibility that Without Remorse is going to set up Rainbow Six and a possible larger cinematic universe based on Tom Clancy’s works.
It makes total sense to give Michael B. Jordan his own starring franchise. He has already proven to be great at anchoring a film series in the Creed movies, which has its third entry on the way. Having him be the lynchpin of a Tom Clancy universe could prove to be the best way to get a franchise going. There have been past attempts at this with Chris Pine in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit but that died on the vine. Recently, John Krasinski found success playing Jack Ryan in the Amazon Prime series of the same name. However, there has not been an earnest attempt to bring Rainbow Six to the big screen, and that series is easily the most popular of Tom Clancy’s works after the character of Jack Ryan.
Part of that has to do with the lucrative video game series that took inspiration from Rainbow Six. If Michael B. Jordan does end up signing on the dotted line, would the Rainbow Six film derive more of its story from the 1998 novel or would it pull from the many video games in the series? Or will it only use those materials as an inspiration to craft its own unique story?
We will have to wait and see how Michael B. Jordan is received once Without Remorse is released. With the movie being acquired by Amazon, could this set up a crossover with Jack Ryan and act as the kickoff to a Tom Clancy cinematic universe? The possibility is certainly in place, and seeing Michael B. Jordan acting alongside John Krasinski would be quite the treat for fans. We certainly hope that these talks can progress and we get word that the deal is done.
