Maya Hawke is currently in talks to star in a new Pirates of the Caribbean movie that will focus on younger pirates.
The world is patiently waiting to see if Johnny Depp is going to return to the Pirates franchise, and while that could still happen, there has been more movement on other reboot ideas. Through our trusted and proven sources, we can report that Maya Hawke is in talks for a Pirates of the Caribbean reboot that will look to focus on younger actors. This is interesting considering Margot Robbie was initially meant to lead the new reboot, though that movie might have been placed on the back burner.
Maya Hawke is arguably one of the best young actresses in the world, so it would make sense for Disney to want to secure her talents for a new Pirates movie. Jerry Bruckheimer has confirmed that two Pirates movies are being worked on, though we are not sure which of the two is going to be made first. Hawke would be the perfect hang-around for Depp, effectively stepping in as captain of her own ship once she learns from the greatest pirate to ever live.
Hawke has become a fan-favorite actress since appearing as Robin in Stranger Things. She is also set to star alongside an expansive cast in the new Wes Anderson movie, Asteroid City. Though Maya Hawke has herself a massively busy acting life on top of being a revered singer, she could still find time to be one of the leads in the new age of the Pirates franchise.
Maya Hawke joining the Pirates franchise is a fantastic choice, and we could also see her possibly joining the ranks of the Margot Robbie movie, though we are not sure when that is going to happen. A movie about young pirates might not go over well with audiences, but if Depp is involved, it could become a highly successful movie that can tie into the mainline story.
