Dwayne Johnson might be getting more time on Netflix.

Dwayne Johnson is determined to be one of the most omnipresent stars in Hollywood today. He has already conquered the realm of big-budget blockbusters with key roles in the Fast & Furious franchise, the Jumanji movies, and the DC universe. He will also be making his mark in the world of streaming when his action film Red Notice hits Netflix later this year. That mega-sized movie is expected to be one of the most expensive endeavors in the history of Netflix. However, it sounds like Johnson and the streaming giant enjoyed their partnership together. So much so that one of our trusted and proven insider sources is saying that the two will be working together again in the near future.
Our source says that Dwayne Johnson is going to team up once again with Netflix but that their next project would be a series. Apparently, Netflix is the one that is trying to broker a deal with the superstar as they want him on board for another major project. We were unable to confirm what exact project that would be, but we can confirm that it is Netflix reaching out to Dwayne Johnson in the hopes that his star power is something they can leverage for a future series on their platform.
It makes all the sense in the world that Netflix would try and nab Dwayne Johnson for a series on the streaming service. He is an incredibly charismatic presence and is one of the few actors who can sell a project based solely on his involvement. Considering that Netflix is banking heavily on Red Notice being a big hit for them, it stands to reason that they would do their best to attract its three main stars – Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds – for any other big-ticket productions. And with Netflix being well-known for their binge-worthy series, getting a mega-star on one of those is a no-brainer.
What is interesting is if this would be a totally new series starring Dwayne Johnson or if it would connect to one of his many other franchises. Our bet is on this being something relatively new, or perhaps they are trying to see if they can spin the Red Notice character that Johnson plays into a series. If Netflix allows Johnson to produce a series as well as star in it, he could be lured in by the promise of creative freedom and the chance to do something he may not have the opportunity to do in other arenas.
There is no arguing that Netflix announcing a major series starring Dwayne Johnson as the lead would grab headlines and get the attention of its subscriber base. Would enough new subscribers sign up for a series that starred The Rock? It would all depend on what that series is and just how motivated folks would feel about it. Until we can figure out what the possible series on Netflix could be, we will simply have to wait and see if Dwayne Johnson wants to commit to making a series for the streaming giant. If he does, we can guarantee it will be newsworthy. Here’s hoping he does decide to try something new and exciting out on Netflix’s dime.
