It looks like Star Wars is going to add another major name to their ever-growing roster of some of the most talented folks in Hollywood. With the franchise in massive growth mode over the next few years, more and more big names are coming into the mix to either star in, or helm productions in the galaxy far away. And according to the latest Giant Freakin Robot exclusive scoop from our trusted and proven source, that next addition is going to be Bryce Dallas Howard. She is apparently currently in talks to direct a project for the studio. These are exciting times for Star Wars fans.
At this time, it isn’t known what kind of project the Stars Wars folks have in mind for Bryce Dallas Howard. Though there seems to be no shortage of projects in the works that she could be helming. Heck, just in the last couple of days we’ve had exclusives that there could be a Luke Skywalker Jedi Academy series planner as well as an adaptation of the Shadows of the Empire story as well. But these are only two. The studio seems to be mining every last character, timeline, and story arc that’s come along in the 45 years since Episode IV: A New Hope first hit the big screen.
And, of course, it’s not like they just randomly called up Bryce Dallas Howard to start working on something out of nowhere. The actress and director has already worked on a couple of different Star Wars projects. She’s directed two The Mandalorian episodes (“Heiress” and “Sanctuary”) as well a Book of Boba Fett episode “Return of the Mandalorian”. So there is already a working relationship here that must have everyone feeling comfortable about stepping up the stakes some with a new project. To her credit, these are some of her first directorial gigs.
Bryce Dallas Howard did follow her father into the Star Wars universe as well. Ron Howard directed Solo: A Star Wars story that gave that titular character a prequel story. The film was generally well-received by critics, scoring 70% on Rotten Tomatoes. But it struggled, relatively speaking, at the box office pulling in $393 million on its nearly $300 million budget. For the studio, this kind of return isn’t exactly something to brag about.
For her part, Bryce Dallas Howard is also set to wrap up her time in another major franchise when Jurassic World: Dominion hit screens later this year. That franchise is the second trilogy of films in this world with this one set to finally put dinosaurs fully out there in the “real-world”. The once-extinct fellas have broken containment and now Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire Dearing and Chris Pratt’s Owen Grady are going to team up with original folks Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill, and Laura Dern to figure out a global solution for this mess.
And after that, she’ll have a starring role in Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle alongside Henry Cavill. And it’s a star-studded cast with other notable like Samuel L. Jackson, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, John Cena, Catherine O’Hara, and Dua Lipa on board as well. We will have to see how this new Star Wars project takes shape for Bryce Dallas Howard going forward.
