Brie Larson looks like she's getting replaced.

Brie Larson helped pave the way for a number of female superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the ultra-strong Carol Danvers a.k.a. Captain Marvel. As the next phase of the Marvel Studios experiment begins to play out, we will be seeing more female superheroes take center stage. Two of those characters are even going to be given more focus in The Marvels, the upcoming follow-up to Captain Marvel. We’ll be seeing Kamala Khan and Monica Rambeau join up with Carol Danvers in the sequel, and it turns out that their inclusion is part of a much larger plan for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
We reached out to one of our trusted and proven insider sources and they came back with info that says Brie Larson won’t be around as Carol Danvers for much longer. According to our source, Marvel is planning on replacing Brie Larson as Captain Marvel with both Kamala Khan and Monica Rambeau. This does not mean that we won’t see Larson as the character in the future, but that the plan is eventually to have her relinquish the title of Captain Marvel to these two characters. Whether it’s really both as a team or one is not clear at the moment and it may depend on the fan response to them in some of their upcoming projects. We have already gotten to see Monica Rambeau in WandaVision but it’s clear there is more in store with her. And we have yet to really get an understanding of what Kamala Khan will bring to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Now, we should clarify that this does not rule out the possibility of Brie Larson leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is possible that she will be ending her contract with Marvel in the near future. After The Marvels, she will have had a starring role in three Marvel Cinematic Universe productions. It would depend on how many movies she was originally contracted to appear in and whether or not Disney wants to renegotiate to keep her on after those appearances are fulfilled. Naturally, when contract renegotiations happen for stars, the actor is in a stronger position to ask for a larger salary since they have established themselves as the character in pop culture. Perhaps Disney/Marvel does not want to renegotiate with Brie Larson after she has fulfilled her original contract obligations.
No matter what the reasoning may be, it looks like Brie Larson will only be sticking around as Captain Marvel for a little longer. It will be interesting to see how fans and audiences will react to her being replaced by either Monica Rambeau or Kamala Khan. If the Disney+ streaming series Ms. Marvel ends up being a smash hit, it sounds like she will be stepping into the shoes of Captain Marvel. Or perhaps Monica Rambeau will become an even more fascinating and compelling character after the events of WandaVision and she will be given the reins. Either way, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has two very good successors lined up to take over as Captain Marvel.
