Exclusive: Agents of SHIELD Are All Returning In Secret Wars
The Agents of SHIELD are returning for Avengers: Secret Wars.
According to the comics, Secret Wars is one of the most expansive stories that Marvel has ever concocted, as it features many timeline versions of the characters that we all know and love. Well, through our trusted and proven sources, we can report that the Agents of SHIELD are going to be part of the Avengers: Secret Wars movie. This is huge news, especially because it will allow the world to see the wonderful Clark Gregg return as Phil Coulson.
The Agents of SHIELD series ran for seven seasons, and originally featured Ming-Na Wen, Brett Dalton, Chloe Bennet, Iain De Caestecker, and Elizabeth Henstridge. Nick Blood, Adrianne Palicki, Henry Simmons, Luke Mitchell, John Hannah, Natalia Cordova-Buckley, and Jeff Ward also joined in the later season. Now, all the Agents of SHIELD are going to be coming back to appear in Avengers: Secret Wars.
The premise of the Johnathan Hickman version of Secret Wars sees Doctor Doom become God Emperor Doom, an entity of sorts that attempts to destroy the multiverse. Considering we are currently in the middle of the Multiverse Saga, it makes sense that Marvel would be adopting this storyline for its own movie. The Agents of SHIELD joining Avengers: Secret Wars adds them to the growing list of promised cameos that should make this Marvel entry the most ambitious.
Spider-Man: No Way Home allowed Marvel fans to see how ambitious the media company could be, as we got to see all three Spider-Man actors come together to take on the respective villains they saw in their own franchises. While many worried that it would be too many personalities and characters to handle, the movie became one of the best properties that the MCU has produced. We would imagine the Agents of SHIELD joining the rest of the rumored characters in Avengers: Secret Wars means that Marvel is going to go even bigger than No Way Home.
For now, we wonder if the Agents of SHIELD could be returning earlier than Avengers: Secret Wars, which would make sense considering many people may have forgotten about this team. That might sound a bit unfair, but the show did end in 2020, so many people might have moved on from remembering the significance this show had during the Infinity Saga. Three years is a long time, especially when thinking about how much content Marvel has released since then.
We could see some of the Agents of SHIELD returning in Deadpool 3 or Ant-Man 3, before they appear in Avengers: Secret Wars. At least, we would hope to see Agent Coulson return sometime sooner rather than later. Either way, we are more than excited to see this team return in any capacity.
Agents of SHIELD can be streamed on Disney+ right now, and fans can remind themselves how great this team was, especially before Avengers: Secret Wars is released. Granted, you have about two years to do so, but don’t say we didn’t warn you. It would be good to catch up on most MCU properties before it all presumably comes crashing down after the events of Secret Wars.
