Evan Peters has made quite the splash by appearing as Pietro Maximoff a.k.a. Quicksilver in WandaVision. Fans have gone wild now that he has appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Theories are racing around as to what the larger implications of this could mean. But, some fans have simpler pleasures in mind. Many have wanted to see more classic comic book versions of the Marvel characters’ costumes make their way to the screen. Thankfully, the newest episode of WandaVision provided that in spades by showing off all the main superheroes in riffs on their comic book duds.

In a clever twist, this week’s episode of WandaVision had Evan Peters, Elizabeth Olsen, and Paul Bettany all don Halloween costumes for the Halloween “episode” of Wanda’s ongoing and ever-shifting sitcom universe. We get to see Elizabeth Olsen absolutely rock the classic Scarlet Witch outfit:

And Evan Peters calls out Vision for looking like a traffic light and a piece of half-shucked corn. Instead, Vision says he’s dressed up as a Mexican wrestler. Again, a very cute nod to his comic book costume:

But the real treat is getting to see Evan Peters in an insanely comic-accurate take on Quicksilver. Not only does he fit himself with a storebought riff on the costume, but the filmmakers behind WandaVision went the extra mile and even styled his hair to look like the classic comic book version of the character. It is a genuine delight to see:

Seriously, just peep Evan Peters’s wild hair once again. It is one of the greatest marvels in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe:

But, not everything is smiles and slicked hairdos. WandaVision also reminds us of a grim fact this week: Pietro is dead. Just like Wanda saw the corpse of Vision, we see a flash of Evan Peters riddled with bullet holes and with the same dead-eyed face that Vision had. It is another shocking moment that reminds Wanda exactly how perverse and twisted this fantasy of hers is. And it is another moment where the hard truth of reality comes crashing into Wanda’s perfectly fabricated fantasy.

We all are wondering if we will actually get to see Evan Peters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe outside of his portrayal here on WandaVision. He proves that he still has more than enough charisma for the role, but his character’s status certainly brings into question how much longer we are going to be able to enjoy his presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the multiverse now being blown wide open, anything is possible. At the end of the show, Wanda could very well use her powers to make Pietro and Vision alive permanently. Or, considering how this week’s episode ended, is the final endgame for Wanda to spread her Hex reality across all of existence? If so, just what other kind of damage could she do?

WandaVision continues to up the ante every week and this last episode was no exception. With only three episodes left, we are headed towards some real game-changing events for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
