After a long wait, Marvel Studios’ upcoming series, Moon Knight, starring Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke, will be finally debuting its trailer on Monday on ABC during the NFL Playoffs. To hype up the anticipation for the same, a teaser promo for the MCU TV series has been shared, revealing a proper glimpse at Isaac’s Marc Spector a.k.a. Moon Knight. But more importantly, the teaser gives a much-needed peek at Ethan Hawke as Marvel fans are still in the dark when it comes to details about the actor’s villainous character in the series.

The Disney+ series has been created by Jeremy Slater and stars Oscar Isaac as well as Ethan Hawke. Isaac will be seen as Marc Spector, a former U.S. Marine with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) who becomes a conduit for the Egyptian moon god Khonshu. But all that is known about Ethan Hawke’s character is that he will be playing the villain against Moon Knight. In the teaser, Hawke is seen sporting grey-white hair and saying “there’s chaos in you” while Spector slowly loses his mind and randomly transforms into his Moon Knight alter ego. Check out the teaser below:

In an earlier appearance on Late Night Seth Myers, Ethan Hawke had revealed how he came to be a part of the show. Apparently, Oscar Isaac only lives “three blocks” down the street from him in Brooklyn. One day, they crossed each other at a coffee shop, where Isaac told Hawke how much he liked his The Good Lord Bird and then promptly made him an offer to be a part of Moon Knight. “And I was like, ‘Yeah.’ So it happened the right way,” Hawke added.

During his appearance on the show, Ethan Hawke had also jokingly shared that he has based his antagonist in Moon Knight on cult leader David Koresh. And that’s all there is when it comes to the officially shared details about his character in the series. When the series was being shot, the Budapest Reporter had shared a picture (now deleted) of Ethan Hawke from the sets of the series. He was seen dressed in a brown suit, sporting long, greyish hair, and reportedly holding a cane. At the time, judging by his appearance, it appeared that he could be playing Marvel’s Dracula, an enemy of Moon Knight in the comics.

But then Marvel Studios released the official description for the series, stating that in the show, Moon Knight will be “thrust into a deadly war of the gods against the backdrop of modern and ancient Egypt.” This last line seemingly drops a hint regarding Ethan Hawke’s character in the series and makes it appear as if he will be playing Sun King, an antagonist against Moon Knight who has only recently joined the comics.

All the mysteries around Ethan Hawke’s character will be finally solved when Marvel’s Moon Knight, consisting of six episodes, finally debuts on Disney+ sometime in early 2022. The year will also see the release of Marvel series like She-Hulk debuting Tatiana Maslany as the title character, Ms. Marvel starring Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan a.k.a. titular superhero, Secret Invasion, and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special on Disney+. In terms of films, MCU will be kickstarting the year with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, followed by Thor: Love and Thunder, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
