Eternals 2 Will Include Galactus, Our Scoop Confirmed
It looks like Eternals 2 will include Galactus, the Devourer of Worlds!

Although Marvel’s newest superhero team has only just dropped in theaters, odds are increasingly in favor that there will indeed be an Eternals 2 on the horizon. When it comes, it looks like it will help usher in the next Thanos-level threat that the Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes will have to contend with — Galactus.
Speaking in a new interview with The Direct, writers Ryan and Kaz Firpo, who penned the script for the first film, discussed the potential for Eternals 2. Specifically, they talked about bringing one of Marvel Comics’ most terrifying bad guys to life on the big screen. They all but confirmed our previous scoop that the next time the super beings tasked with protecting Earth 7,000 years ago will go toe-to-toe with Galactus in the sequel. The writers noted that there is certainly potential given the cosmic scale that Eternals brought to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Eternals 2 to bring in one of the most, if not the most, most climactic baddies in comic book history.
For those unfamiliar with what Eternals 2 is toying with, Galactus is a character initially developed by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby to break the mold when it comes to supervillains. He’s not interested in dominating Earth like Loki, nor is he interested in saving it through incredibly twisted means like Ultron or Thanos. Galactus is totally indifferent to Earth’s existence. To him, it’s merely a food source to sustain his him.
That’s right, Galactus is a massive cosmic entity who devours planets in order to sustain his life force. What makes Galactus such a scary inclusion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is not that he can’t be reasoned with, but that he won’t be. Gone are the moments where the hero briefly debates the big bad before they throw down with some fisticuffs. Think about it: if an ant started trying to lecture you about morality and then said “put up your dukes,” you probably give the little pest a swift finger flicking before carrying on with your picnic (no offense Ant-Man).
All that said, the inclusion of Galactus in Eternals 2 would give the Marvel Cinematic Universe something it has so desperately needed since 2019 when Tony Stark made short work of Thanos — an ultimate big bad. The franchise coasted in Phase One of the novelty of seeing characters from different movies unite in 2012 for the first Avengers team-up. However, a post-credits scene teasing Thanos brought everyone to Google to look into who the hell the smiling purple alien was. For seven years after, Thanos was the big looming threat, the boogeyman that went “bump” in Tony Stark’s night. Now that he’s gone, the franchise has been lacking a character that’s going to bring the heroes together for an ultimate Avengers-level team-up. Perhaps someone who wants to devour the galaxy could help jump-start the franchise now that the original Captain America and Iron Man are gone?
Galactus has already been briefly teased in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As Syfy notes, eagle-eyed Marvel Comics fans likely spotted the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment in the penultimate episode of What if…? in which The Watcher and Ultron’s dimension-spanning fight scene briefly showed a massive Galactus attempting to eat a planet. Given how powerful the super team introduced in the latest installment of the franchise are, perhaps it’s time to introduce a threat that a super soldier can’t crack in the jaw. Perhaps Eternals 2 needs Galactus to pose a big enough threat to the team.
