With actors including Aubrey Plaza and Hugh Jackman joining or returning to the Marvel Universe, it’s been a great time to be a fan of the movie and television franchise. While we await more news surrounding the upcoming projects in the studio’s Phase 6, Emily Blunt has some non-ideal updates surrounding the highly anticipated Fantastic Four reboot. During a recent interview with Extra TV, the Jungle Cruise star revealed that as of now, she hasn’t been asked to audition for the Invisible Woman, leaving many of us with dashed hopes and confusion regarding what direction casting is moving in.
During her sit down, the interviewer flat-out asked Emily Blunt about her and her husband, John Krasinski’s possible involvement in Fantastic Four, noting that fans have been clamoring for the two to join the franchise, adding that “everyone thinks that you would make an incredible Invisible Woman.” Keeping her cards close to her chest (if there are cards at all), Emily Blunt revealed that she “[knew] nothing.”
She also said that “No one has approached [her] about the Invisible Woman.” However, Blunt shared nothing about her husband’s involvement in the production, so let the speculation continue as to whether Krasinski will take on the role of Reed Richards, a part that he played in Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Outside of Emily Blunt’s casting in Fantastic Four, the interviewer threw other tough questions her way. They also asked her about the actress’ possible participation in the upcoming A Quiet Place 3, which will center around a different story in the now franchise’s universe. Keeping her lips tightly sealed, Blunt also didn’t share any information regarding any part she may be taking on in the Lupita Nyong’o-led feature.
While Emily Blunt may not be coming to blows for the universe in Fantastic Four, she has been fighting for the right for actresses to wear what they want on the red carpet, something that the star has been vocal about over the last few years. She also has a full docket of features on her list, with two in post-production and one just beginning to roll cameras. With her last on-screen undertaking in 2021’s Jungle Boat, the next few years will be a great time for Blunt fans as they’ll see her perform across various genres.
First up, she’ll co-star in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, a biographical feature surrounding the life of the famous physicist known for crafting the atomic bomb. Blunt will take on the role of J. Robert Oppenheimer’s (Cillian Murphy) wife, Katherine Oppenheimer, a talented biologist and botanist. While Emily Blunt may or may not be starring opposite her husband in Fantastic Four, we’re excited to see her on-screen chemistry with Cillian Murphy in this one.
She’ll also star in the upcoming Pain Hustlers, a story about a down-on-her-luck woman living in Florida who takes a job at a newly launched pharmaceutical company only to find herself in the middle of a criminal conspiracy. Finally, the action flick, The Fall Guy, will see her star opposite Ryan Gosling and Aaron Taylor-Johnson in a feature-length reboot of the fan-favorite ‘80s series. With this one currently in production and Oppenheimer and Pain Hustlers in post, it’s possible for Emily Blunt to be bluffing us and taking on a role in Fantastic Four which isn’t due out until 2024.
